A/N: This is part of my new series Love in the world of senshi. I'm planning to write three stories (Silver Millennium/ Present/ Chrystal Tokyo) for each pairing (Rei/Minako, Ami/Makoto, Haruka/Michiru and Setsuna/Hotaru). I'm starting with Rei and Minako in the Silver Millennium, but I'm not sure who will be next. I know it is a bit ambitious, but I'm going to take my time to finish this honorably. Since I'm going to write other Sailor Moon stories too, I will mark the stories belonging this series with the name 'Love in the world of senshi'. I'll make sure that the time line (meaning the order of the stories) is clear. Please r&r and I hope you'll enjoy it.

1. Crushed heart
Sailor Venus, the sole heir of the throne of Venus and the leader of the Inner senshi, walked nervously down an isle in the palace of the Moon Kingdom. The marvellously decorated aisle would lead to the room belonging to the princess of the Moon Kingdom, the person she had fallen in love with. To love another girl wasn't forbidden in their kingdoms, but it wasn't thought desirable either; especially within the heirs of the thrones, since they were supposed to marry some prince and make sure their lines wouldn't end. But Sailor Venus simply didn't want a prince, she had tried to date princes few times and they all had ended up to be total disasters. First she had thought something was wrong with her when she didn't feel anything for them, but then she had realised it wasn't a prince she wanted but a princess. A certain princess of the Moon Kingdom to be precise. Sailor Venus was happy by the fact that she, the supposed senshi of love, wasn't broken but able to love as well; just in different way.
Sailor Venus had started to dream about princess Serenity and spend time with her as much as possible, it was easy since she was already the leader of her bodyguard group. They had quickly become best friends, but Minako still wasn't sure whether or not Usagi felt the same way for her. She was planning to tell her some time soon, maybe her princess would return her feelings. Sailor Venus couldn't think anything more wonderful than that would be. She relaxed a bit by the thought and walked with light steps to her princess' door. The whole palace of the Moon Kingdom was beautifully and skilfully designed, but nothing could compare to princess Serenity's personal room, which had been decorated by the queen herself.
Sailor Venus took a deep breath and knocked at the large double doors.
''Come on in.'' came the cheerful answer as princess Serenity had already been waiting for her.
Sailor Venus pushed the heavy doors open and stepped in finding princess Serenity standing in front of a huge mirror and trying out several dresses as she always did when having free time. Her long, golden hair was tied up in the royal odango style.
''What do you think of this, Mina-chan?'' princess Serenity asked frustrated looking Minako through the mirror.
Sailor Venus smiled a bit, princess Serenity was one of the rare people who called her by her birth name.
''I think it is stunning, my princess. Like everything you wear.'' Sailor Venus answered solemnly.
''Oh, Mina-chan! When do you stop calling me princess? Just call me Serenity.'' princess Serenity whined.
''But princess, that wouldn't be appropriate.'' Sailor Venus said smiling slightly and princess Serenity rolled her eyes.
''Fine, if it makes you happy..but don't expect me to call you Sailor Venus or princess Venus..'' she muttered and continued more brightly: ''By the way, you never guess what happened when I was visiting Earth yesterday!''.
''What?'' Sailor Venus asked enthusiastically, eager to hear about her princess' adventures.
''I met the most wonderful guy in the whole galaxy!'', princess Serenity said turning around with dreamy look in her eyes, ''He is the prince of the Earth! Mina-chan, I think I've fallen in love with him!'' she beamed and sighed happily.
Sailor Venus stood still, absolutely petrified. When princess Serenity had started to speak it had felt like she had struck a sharp sword through Sailor Venus' heart and twisted it hard as she ended her story.
''T-That is so great my princess! But are you sure you love him? You just met this guy..'' Sailor Venus said, forcing herself to speak casually.
''Oh, I'm sure Mina-chan! It was love at first sight! We are so made for each other! I'm going to sneak out to see him again as soon as possible! You have to promise you won't tell anyone about this.'' princess Serenity continued excitedly, not noticing Sailor Venus' shock.
''Of course. I'm so happy for you, princess. But I have go to go now. I'm sorry, I forgot I had a meeting with the vice leader, Sailor Mars.'' Sailor Venus lied wanting to get out as soon as possible.
''It's okay, Mina-chan! I was just going to head out a bit myself.'' princess Serenity answered serenely, continuing her private fashion show.
''Ok. Bye then.'' Sailor Venus said and walked hastily through the door, not waiting princess Serenity's answer.
Sailor Venus walked as fast as she could back to the room she had while living in the palace as a bodyguard. She didn't bother to look where she was going, she just let her legs to do the walking and her heart to do the bleeding. Once inside her private room, she closed the door quietly and sat on the coach, staring into distance. She felt absolutely horrible, how could she ever think that there was even a slightest chance that her princess would feel more for her than just mere friendship. She wanted to cry but the tears didn't come, though she wasn't sure she could stop once she started. She was just a mere leader of the Inners. Senshi of love, who would never truly love or be loved herself. Minako sat for a long time thinking about her life and how messy it had developed.
After what felt like eternity, Sailor Venus remembered the sake bottle one of her so-called boyfriends had given her a while ago. She had hidden it into her drawer and decided to dispose it later on, since it was illegal to drink alcohol at the age of fourteen. Sailor Venus walked at the drawer, opened it angrily and took out the bottle. She hadn't been drunk before in her whole life, but this seemed a good day to start. She needed to get that horrible feeling out of her system now and she had heard that alcohol made you numb that would suit her nicely. Minako opened the bottle and took a sip while sitting back down on the coach. The alcohol burned uncomfortably in her mouth, but she ignored and kept drinking until she had drank nearly half of the bottle. She started to feel dizzy and awful. Not only was she hurt mentally, now she was hurt also physically. ''Way to go princess of Venus..'' she thought irritated.
Suddenly Sailor Venus heard a knock at the door. Even though she started to get really drunk she understood quite clearly that she couldn't get caught, god knows what consequences she could get while drinking during her duty and she was also underaged. Sailor Venus decided to keep quiet and hope that the intruder would go away when she didn't answer. For Sailor Venus' disappointment the door opened and someone walked in.
''Sailor Venus?'' a feminine voice asked.
It sounded really familiar but Sailor Venus couldn't remember who it belonged to and she didn't care at the moment. She just wanted the person to go away.
''Minako? What on the moon are you doing?'' Sailor Mars asked in disbelief as she saw Minako hiding behind the back of the couch.
'Oh god! It's Sailor Mars..she's gonna get me for this.'' she thought tiredly and opened her eyes to look at her.
''Hi Mars! What's my favourite vice leader doing here?'' she asked and started to get hilarious over the stupidity of the situation.
''Princess Serenity told me that you had said we were supposed to have some kind of meeting, but it seems that you're having a private party instead.'' Sailor Mars stated dryly.
''Feel free to join me, Rei-chan! Let's have a hyper leader party! I don't have glasses but who cares?'' Minako answered and giggled a bit pointing at the sake.
Sailor Mars looked worriedly at the bottle on the table, nearly half of the sake was missing. Luckily, though, the bottle wasn't very big but it seemed to be big enough for Sailor Venus. She just prayed Sailor Venus didn't need medical care or she would be in serious trouble.
''Minako! I presume you know you're not allowed to drink even if you're the princess of Venus!'' Sailor Mars scolded her.
''Oh, Rei-chan! Don't be such a party-pooper!'' Sailor Venus pouted and then giggled more; she was starting to get really drunk, as she didn't even bother to call Sailor Mars by her official name anymore.
Sailor Mars didn't answer, instead she took the sake bottle, walked to the bathroom and poured the contest in to the sink.
''REI!! What do you think you're doing?! Have you any idea how hard it is to get that stuff!'' Sailor Venus yelled trying to stand up, but fell back on the coach being too drunk to stand.
''No, I do not know and either should you. Now, tell me why you're acting like this? This is not like you at all.'' Sailor Mars said as she sat next to Sailor Venus with a concerned look in her eyes.
Minako looked at her suddenly scared and said almost whispering: ''You wouldn't understand..*hic*..you would think I was weird and wouldn't want to be my friend anymore.''
''Nonsense! Whatever it is, I promise I won't abandon you or consider you weird.'' Sailor Mars said in firm tone.
''Really?'' Sailor Venus asked, looking her sceptically.
''Scouts honor.'' Sailor Mars said solemnly.
''Okay then..I guess I could tell..the thing is..*hic*..I like princess Serenity in inappropriate way..but she doesn't like me in that way, she's in love with the prince of Earth! *hic* It hurts so much..and I like girls..does that make me weird Rei? *hic*'' Sailor Venus blurted out and started to cry.
The look on Sailor Mars' face was expressionless, but quickly turned to concerned as Sailor Venus started to weep.
''Of course you're not weird, Mina-chan! You can love whoever you like.'' Sailor Mars told her reassuringly and wrapped her arm around Sailor Venus.
''B-But no one loves me! *hic* W-what is wrong w-with me?'' Sailor Venus stammered and started to sound sleepy.
''Nothing is wrong with you. I love you, Mina-chan!'' Sailor Mars said and looked terrified by what she had just slipped out, but Sailor Venus just looked her smiling happily.
''Really? Rei, you're always *hic* so nice. You know you could tell queen Serenity about my drinking and I could get expelled, but instead you're trying to *hic* cheer me up. What I've done to *hic* deserve such a good friend like *hic* you?'' Minako rambled.
''You've just been yourself and that is enough.'' Sailor Mars said, sounding as serious as one can be.
''Hmm..that's nice..mmh.. Rei I'm not feeling very * hic* well.'' Sailor Venus said turning very pale.
''Quickly to the bathroom!'' Sailor Mars yelled.
Sailor Venus stood up and reeled into the bathroom and hit the door, Sailor Mars gently guided her past the door and to the toilet. Sailor Venus bent down and puked in unprincessly manner as Sailor Mars held her long, blonde hair out of the way. Sailor Venus leaned against the bathroom wall as Sailor Mars poured a glass of water for her. Sailor Venus drank it eagerly, wanting to get the disgusting taste out of her mouth. Sailor Mars supported Venus as they walked back to the living room and on the couch. Sailor Venus sat tiredly on the couch, readying to lay down.
''Rei, I'm so stupid! I never should have drank that much, now I'm just feeling even worse! I just wanna this feeling to go away.'', she muttered and started to cry again, ''I'm such a mess! I'm supposed to be the happy little princess of Venus, but I'm far from it! I don't know what to do..''
''It's okay, Mina-chan. Just let it all out. Everything is going to be alright. Try to get some sleep, maybe you feel better tomorrow.'' Sailor Mars said as she let Venus use her lap as a pillow and gently stroke her hair, trying to soothe her.
Sailor Venus stopped the crying, mumbled something incoherent and passed out.
''Oh, Mina-chan.. What I'm going to do with you?'' Sailor Mars whispered looking Minako with sad eyes.
''If only you knew..'' she said and stopped as Sailor Venus stirred a bit and mumbled ''Rei..''.
Sailor Mars blushed lightly and continued to guard her fallen angel's dream.

A/N: I have to admit that I have no idea what the sailor senshi were called during the Silver Millennium, but I think princess Venus and princess Mars doesn't sound as good as Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars so I decided to call them with their sailor names. As for Minako, I decided to keep her a bit more preserved and serious as she was when first introduced in the series. This was just the setting of the playfield; soon the plot will really get going.
