Chapter 10

Title: Confessions

Elisa walked past Dominique, Destine's personal assistant, into her office. The office was empty but voices coming from an adjacent room drew her attention.

With Dominique's Assistant on her heels Elisa stalked towards the room. "You can't go in there. Stop!" The assistant yelled. Elisa ignored the woman intent only on finding Fox.

Just as her hand reached the knob her arm was grabbed. She turned to see the assistant holding onto her bicep as if her life depended on it. The older woman was breathing hard trying to catch her breath. "I said you can't go in there." She gasped out. Elisa snatched her arm away pulling her badge out.

"This is police business. Does Ms. Destine pay you enough to go to jail?" She asked. The woman looked closely at her badge, when satisfied it was the real thing she backed away. Elisa opened the door.

There were at least twelve men and women dressed in expensive looking suits sitting around an oval table. Some were looking towards the door having heard her confrontation.

Dominique was on her feet before Elisa crossed the threshhold. "Detective Maza it's good to see you." She gushed. "How can I help you?" She asked.

The petite red head sounded pleasant but her green eyes were flashing murder as she closed the distance between them. Elisa's attention was on the other red head in the room.

Fox had whirled around in her chair at the mention of Elisa's name. There was a dark blue pinstripe jacket draped over the back of her chair. She was wearing a royal blue silk shirt with a high collar. Elisa could see her long legs under the table, a short dark blue, pinstripe skirt, covered her thighs. The dark blue heels on her feet tapped the floor slowly.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" Dominique asked once she was close enough. "You'd better have a good reason for interupting this meeting." She snapped keeping her voice low. Elisa was forced to pull her eyes away from Fox back to Dominique. Elisa's eyes hardened as she looked at the Gargoyle in human form.

"I'm not here to arrest you.....this time." Elisa warned. She walked around Dominique her eyes locked on Fox. "Who do you think you are?" She ground out. "You arrogant, spoiled, rich bitch!" She flung the check in Fox's face.

"You can't buy me because I'm not for sale." She said. To her aggravation Fox looked up at her and smirked leaning back in her chair. "Why would I attempt to buy something that you willingly gave me?" Fox taunted. "Don't look at it as a payment, consider it a thank you."

Elisa's hand was moving before she registered it. The only thing on her mind was to wipe the smirk off the red head's face. Her palm connected with a loud, 'SMACK', but not to it's intended target. Fox held Elisa's hand prisoner in a tight grip. The other woman had captured her hand before Elisa registered she'd moved.

Fox was out of her seat so fast Elisa couldn't remember actually seeing her move. Her blue eyes burned with anger. She grabbed Elisa's arm pinning it behind her back applying enough pressure to make it uncomfortable without causing pain. Fox growled into Elisa's ear. "That one I'll let go. The next one I won't."

She marched Elisa away from the table ignoring the gasps and shocked looks. "Go on without me I have some unfinished business with Detective Maza." She told Dominique as they passed her. Elisa could see intense curiosity in Dominique's eyes as she watched them walk out.

Not releasing her hold Fox walked them through Dominique's office, past her Personal Assistant. When she came to an empty room, she pushed Elisa inside. She slammed the door with enough force that the room vibrated.

Elisa rubbed her wrist where Fox had held her. She turned around to continue her rant but she found herself face to face with an angry Fox Xantos. "Don't you ever try to strike me again. If you were a man, you'd be dead right now!" Fox snapped before Elisa could speak. "Do you understand me?" Fox took a deep breath exhaling it noisily turning her back on Elisa.

Elisa knew she was wrong she refused to admit it. "You're lucky I don't arrest you for solicitation, after the stunt you pulled," Elisa yelled. Fox whirled around on her heels.

She walked slowly towards Elisa."I said, do you understand me?" Fox held up her ring finger. The large square stone on the wedding ring sparkled when the light from the window hit it.

"Don't let the bling fool you Elisa, underneath it all I'm still a killer." Fox stated. Elisa stared in shock at the admission. The ex-mercenarys past was shrouded in secrecy. Her life after graduating college was sketchy. She'd spent six years jet setting
from one continent to the next.

On paper it appeared she was just another young socialite living off her father's money. Fox's travels included many trips to the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Places not thought of as stomping grounds for the rich and famous.

Elisa had investigated Fox shortly after she'd started dating David Xanatos's. At the time Elisa assumed Fox had spent the six years after college traveling the world aimlessly. She wasn't so certain of that now.

Elisa pulled her eyes away from Fox's taking a deep breath. "Okay Fox," Elisa held up a hand. "I'm sorry I hit you."

Elisa sat down on the edge of the conference room table. "I should be so angry with you right now." Fox said. "Do you think this is about money?" She held up the cashier's cheque.

Elisa leaned away from Fox when the red head walked up to her blocking her path. "This doesn't mean anything to me." She threw the check on the table next to Elisa.

"I know I said it would be just one night no strings attached. But can you honestly say you didn't feel anything?" Fox asked.

"If this isn't about money, why did you send it, to humiliate me?" Fox balled her fists up in frustration. "You didn't return my call. I waited for you to contact me but you ignored me like what happened between us was something to be ashamed of." Fox said.

Elisa looked away feeling guilty. Remembering listening to Fox's message but not returning the call. "Is that how I made you feel that night? I wanted you to feel special, beautiful." Fox paused. "Because that's what
you are."

The way Fox was looking at her made Elisa's stomach flutter. It seemed as if it had been forever since anyone had looked at her with such tenderness.

"I should've called you back. I just don't know what to do." Elisa admitted. "I'm going to the castle tonight to talk with Goliath." Fox interupted before she could continue.

"So you intend to take him back?" Fox shook her head. "You'll never be first in Goliath's life. His clan will always be more important." Fox warned.

"What about you?" Elisa asked. "You've got David, Alexander. Where would I fit in your life?" Elisa countered. Fox lowered her eyes glancing away. Elisa placed her hands on the red heads shoulders trying to push her back.

She sighed when Fox refused to move. "So you'd rather I play second to your husband rather than the clan." Elisa stated. "Neither of those scenarios is an option for me." Elisa said.

Fox pushed her body into Elisa's keeping her pinned on the table. "Don't you want to be with me?" Fox asked. "I can figure out a way for us to be together. You just have to give me some time."

Fox reached out stroking the back of her hand down Elisa's cheek. "I want to tell you something that I've never told anyone else." Fox whispered. "Don't interupt just listen." Fox requested. Elisa nodded.

"You've been a pain in my ass for as long as I've known you." Fox said. "You've arrested me. Sabotaged my attempted take over of Cyberbiotics. Destroyed Gen-U-Tech, a multi-million dollar lab."

She cocked her head staring down at the brunette. "Yet I could never bring myself to hate you. And when I ask myself why the only answer I could come up with is that a part of me can't hate you." She said.

"When I was turned into the werefox, by the Eye of Odin, you fought me." Elisa's eyes widened in surprise.

Fox smiled at her. "Yes, I remember. It was easier to tell everyone that I couldn't remember than to tell the truth." Fox confessed.

"I was an eight foot tall monster and out of my mind with rage. You could've used deadly force to stop me, but you didn't." Elisa returned Fox's look. "I didn't want to hurt you." Elisa said quietly. "I remember fighting you." Fox continued. "I remember every move every sound you made."

Fox closed her eyes taking a deep breath. "And I remember the way you smell. Even after the Eye was taken from me I couldn't forget. The animal that's locked away inside of me wont let me forget." Fox opened her eyes blackness spread like ink across her pupils as they dilated.

"You smell like a flower and taste like honey." She husked. "I can't forget." Elisa felt like a trapped bird under Fox's star.

Fox leaned down capturing Elisa's lips in a hungry kiss. She ran her fingers through Elisa's silky black hair. Her hands glided over the sides of Elisa's full breasts down to her waist. With a loud groan she pulled Elisa closer, deepening the kiss.

Elisa opened her mouth wider. Fox's tongue caressed the back of her throat. Needing to breath she pulled away from the passionate red head. Fox's mouth landed on the side of her throat.

The soft kisses she placed there hot enough to melt butter. Weeks of pent-up desire unraveled on the conference room
table. Elisa's hands roamed over the back of Fox's silk shirt down to her waist.

She leaned back on the table pulling Fox down with her. Elisa's thighs spread willingly when Fox pressed closer, rubbing her body sensuously into Elisa. The sound of their harsh breathing filled the room.

The wrap dress Elisa had worn to court parted easily when Fox reached underneath it. Long, slim fingers caressed
over silky thighs. She sighed at the feel of Fox's fingers pressing against the front of her panties.

Fox slipped two fingers under the waist band trailing them up and down Elisa's crease. She paused at the top of Elisa's pussy stroking her clit. "You're so beautiful." Fox exclaimed breathlessly. She bent down licking a wet trail along Elisa's neck "so beautiful," she repeated.

Before Elisa could respond Fox thrust two long fingers inside her. Elisa's neck muscles strained as she suppressed a groan of pleasure.

Fox's hand trembled at the feel of Elisa's walls contracting around her fingers.

"You're still so tight. Has there been anyone since me?" Fox asked. The ring of possession was unmistakable in Fox's voice.

A loud banging on the conference room door caused them both to freeze. "Elisa? Fox? What the hell is going on?" Dominique's brusk voice called out.

The door knob rattled as Dominique tried to gain entrance. "A locked door can't keep the CEO of Nightstone Unlimited from coming in." Dominique warned.
