Yu-gi-oh! GXL preview: Nicole~!
Professor Chronos walked to the front of the class room. Form the look on his face the students of duel academy could tell he was up to something. “Students please be seated” the class sat quickly to avoid Chronos ' disdainful stare. The obelisk dean continued to speak “we have a new student today, please welcome to our class miss Nicole Sera. A young girl walked into the room wearing the uniform of the elite obelisk blue. Her hair was cut short almost like that of a boy. The girl introduced her self “hi, my name is Nicole Sera; I hope we can all get along”. Nicole promptly took a seat in a vacant seat in the front row of available seats.
The entire class seemed to be chattering about Nicole, who promptly slumped down in her seat embarrassed. The rest of the class passed by as a blur until the Chronos voice pierced Nicole’s head. “Ms Sera, will you please come to the front of the class.” What have done to deserve this? Nicole wondered as she slowly dragged her self to the front of the room. Upon her decent to the professor’s position he explained the nature of Nicole’s invocation “Ms. Sera seeing as how this is your first day here; I have chosen
You to participate in today’s practice duel” Nicole simply nodded in agreement trying adamantly to hide her fear. The professor continued “now as to who your opponent should be”, Chronos pondered over the student in attendance “Fuller, William you will be Ms. Sera’s opponent!”
Break 1
“All students please proceed to the obelisk arena, for today’s practice duel.” As Nicole picked up her deck and placed it in the oddly heavy duel disk, fear overcame her. This had not been her day, if she could just finish this duel she could go back to her dorm room and rest. The class room wasn’t far from the obelisk arena. As Nicole walked through the percipients entrance she could see the amazing size of the domed arena. She slowly walked on to the main stage and readied her duel disk. Her heart couldn’t take much more of these high pressure situations. As both duelists reached there places professor Chronos came over the PA system “today’s duel will be a one game format the life point total is set at 4000, first attack will be chosen with a coin toss…. The toss is heads!”
Mr. Fuller you may precede with the first turn. “Alright I will lay a monster in defense mode and end my turn; go new girl!” Nicole nervously picked up the top card of her deck and looked at it. “Rosen blood, good” she thought to her self. “I will summoun Rosen blood in attack mode! (1850/1200) “Rosen blood attack his monster.” The vine covered warrior chopped William’s face down monster effortlessly. As the monster revealed it self three eyes could be seen glowing through. “Dang, a sangen isn’t it?” Nicole remarked. William butted in “by Sangen's effect I will take a giant rat from my deck and add it to my hand.” “Fine, I end my turn my laying a card face down.” William began his turn “I will summoun my giant rat in defense mode, you may go new girl.” Nicole was visibly angered by William’s treatment of her “I may be new here but not to dueling by any means!” I will play the magic card Sun Rise! “Using its effect I will summoun a demon rose in attack mode” “it cannot not attack this turn but that is of no matter.” “I will offer my demon rose to summoun fairy king Trousdale (2200/1500) in attack mode!” The audience reacted with surprise to such a strong monster being summoned this early in the duel. Nicole continued her turn “Rosen blood attack giant rat! Again the female plant warrior cleaved William’s monster in two. As the rat disappeared from the field a small stone insect appeared in its place “So you used that rat to call out a muka muka (1200/800)” the insect swelled as it appeared into view, steam was erupting from its back. The muka muka’s had attack increased from 1200 to 2800. “But how?!” Nicole screamed
“You see” William explained “this is no mere muka muka this Varity gains 400 attack points for every card in my hand! “ “So since there are 4 cards in my hand its gets +1600 attack for a total of 2800 attack.” With such a huge monster on the field there was no way she could attack. “I will set a card and end my turn.” Nicole said with a sigh.
“It’s my turn now!” William yelled “enraged muka muka attack Trousdale!”
“Wait a second William, I activate my face down card Sweet Pheromones! “This card raises the power of all my plant monsters attack by 1500 in exchange for half my life points.” Trousdale attack rose from 2200 to 3700. The fairy king easily evades the muka muka’s attack and with one stroke splits the stone insect in two. The attack deducted 900 life points from William’s total. It was obvious that William was angry with the loss of his most powerful monster. “Pure luck new girl, I will set one card go already.”
“I will set one monster in defense mode” the crowd was puzzled by Nicole’s play “then I will use the magic card book of the sun to flip my set monster into attack mode!” “Behold sword vines, since it was flipped by the book of the sun I can discard one card to send a magic or trap card to the grave yard.” ‘Say good bye to your face down card William.” The sword vines skewered William’s set card with its bladed tendrils. “It’s over William, Rosen blood, Trousdale, and Sword Vine attack his life points!” with his face down card, and thus his last line of defense gone, the full force of Nicole’s plant monster impacted William directly. He flew back as his life point gauge ran down to zero.
The professor once again came over the PA system “today’s winner is Nicole Sera, lets have a round of applause!” the audience erupted in a roar of clapping and yelling. Nicole just dropped to her knees and sighed with relief.
