So here she breathes,
Ash and fear,
Waiting to be forgotten,
As she knows she already is,
Invisible.
Why break the hopes of those,
She knows,
Will only shun her?
Why give them that satisfaction?
And so the sound breaks,
And the match takes,
Alight.
She never saw daybreak’s light.
But here she’s free,
Now she breathes,
As pain racks her body.
Breaking her flesh,
Devouring all that she is,
And smothering now,
Her screams.
She’s dying,
She’s lying,
She’s on the floor,
Begging,
Praying,
For one more,
Chance.
But fate be cruel,
And play her a fool,
For now,
Her life,
Is gone.
