Chapter 17

Title: Witch Hunt IV

[Author's notes: The breaker sisters head out.]

“We’re entering the red zone, stay tight and eyes open.” Aleksandra finally yelled at the breaking dawn behind them as Waltrud and Kanno flew closer.

“Is this where the night squad was hit?” Walt asked inequity as Aleksandra nodded, biting her tongue.

“How didn’t they see the fucking Neuroi, they have RADAR!?” Kanno hollered viciously, seeing nothing but open area for miles as she flipped the safety off her fully automatic.

“The shot would have been impossible for a Neuroi...” Walt grimaced with a smile, thinking of Nikka as Kanno glared at her. “...or a witch...” Both remembered what the general had said hours earlier as she couldn’t believe witches were being taken over by Neuroi, no one could and never NIPA!

“Don’t say that Krupinski!” Kanno screamed as she held back tears. Waltrud wasn’t smiling after hearing her last name come out of the islander’s mouth as she stared at Aleksandra to take control.

“Calm down Kanno, we’ll find her.” Aleksandra assured painfully as the small group of strike witches continued to fly in tight formation.

Miles away atop a small mountain range, a Neuroi witch sat comfortable with a massive, Neuroi sniper rifle aimed in the 502nd’s direction. Another witch stood next to the sniper, watching the three pilots fly towards their deaths.

“It’s like Hanna said… a small recon group and by their badges they’re from the 502nd... Nipa…?” The sniper adjusted her scope, smiling lightly as she had no ties to any of the standing squads of witches as the ranked Neuroi witch flinched.

“Quiet Wind!” Nikka snapped as the blackness pulled away from her face.

“What should we do?” The sniper smiled again as her right eye turned black with a red crosshair and looked down her scope. The second Neuroi witch remained deep in thought as Hanna caressed her trigger.

“Nikka!? What’s the plan?” The sniper adjusted her sights impatiently, moving from one head to the other as the weapon came alive with its Neuroi skin, begging for a shot.

“Nothing…” Nikka turned and flew off as the wind sniper grinned to herself, her gun shutting down loudly with irritation. Hanna Wind or Marseille of the Tundra would never disobey Nikka or Marseille of the Desert, both from ranked squads.

“They’re here….”

Nikka was getting lonely and now her friends were heading right for her. Nikka didn’t want them dead... she wanted them “turned” even if she only got one to join her but who?

Waltrud would have been her first pick, calm and collected the brave heroine; she would make an excellent Neuroi witch. Plus her “friendliness” towards her own sex was always grounds for a good time.

Maybe Alex could be convinced, with a strong tactical sense of combat, mechanics and medical she would be ideal over the other two, but the Orussian had honor that wasn’t flippant.

Then there was Kanno, the wild and reckless Fuso girl. Full of guts and the rare emotion to use it as this would make her the easiest to turn.

“Hardliners to the end…”

She had missed the girl’s at their base upon her “return” as Georgette, Edytha, and Rall were dead for not joining her, refusing to the end. Nikka had taken their lives regretfully as she hoped she’d bump into her breaker sisters soon.

Now they were here, together again, would they refuse her if they knew the truth? About how expendable they were or what would happen to the witches after the war with the Neuroi was over…?

“You will listen to me sisters…”

Kanno suddenly trembled lightly, sensing the air as Waltrud caught it out the corner of her eye.

“Kanno! Lighten up your making me nervous!” Walt yelled over the roar of their strikers, smiling sadly as Kanno drove forward.

“KANNO! Stay PUT!!!” Aleksandra shouted angrily as the Fuso girl raged back into position.

“They got lucky the first time; they’ll come head on now.”

The short blonde knew she was about to take the fight to the enemy as she prayed Walt and Kanno could control themselves.

“Please don’t make me kill you…”

Nikka flew deeper into the lower valley, preparing to fight, when another Neuroi witch dropped in next to her.

“Don’t kill them Nikka, Hanna wants the three of them… and after what happened to the rest of your squad...” Raisa sneered violently as she was told Nipa had lost control and slaughter her fellow pilots in cold blood at not finding her sisters.

“Shut up Raisa!” Nikka almost took a swing at the Karlslander as a red laser suddenly split between them.
Nipa snarled viciously as she looked back to see Hanna’s long ears, standing next to Wind pointing her weapon at her.

“You understand now slampa?” The blonde from the 31st smiled as she flew off and joined Hanna, the Afrikan star as her wing and flew off.

“Careful little Nipa…”
