Chapter 2

Title: Snow?

Muna opened her orbs to white... "Snow?" Yes, it was snowing. She blinked a few times and looked about her snowy plane. "Since when does it snow in Hawai‘i?" She suddenly felt something cold splash her face and finally woke up. She was laying down somewhere with the director and drum major standing over her soaking wet face and hair. "Ungh.." Muna tried to sit up, but a hand pressed her back down.

'Where am I...?'

She was lying on the floor of one of the practice rooms in the music complex. She reached up and felt for the ears. Thankfully they were gone as well as the tail. Taking a deep breath, she could only wonder how much they knew or they wanted from her.

"You took two terrible spills on the bus. What happened? You seemed freaked out."

The director pinned her with questions, obviously the dark had hidden her appendages to the director.

"I-... I wasn't feeling well..."

Muna lied, a brief glance about and she took note of the drum major, their orbs locking. A beat passed and she tore her eyes away as she looked back to the director. "I should be fine now... Can- can I go...? I'll go to the doctor later..." Sitting up was a mistake, trying to stand was an utter failure. Her knees wobbled then gave a little. She caught herself on the piano, director shaking her head.

"You are obviously in no condition to get home by yourself."

"I can drive her."

The drum major chimed in, the director paused a moment, then agreed hesitantly to the compromise. Soon Muna was settled into the passenger seat in the Subi, orbs closed. The door closed softly and Muna could sense the tension,  those onyx orbs on her in an instant.

"Those were real..."

The string of words hung in the air like icicles. Muna nodded, the silence stretching out before them like a vast mysterious void.

“Have you told anyone else?”

Muna paused at the odd question, then shook her head. The drum maor gave no sign of what went through her head. Hand shoved a metal water bottle at Muna.

“Drink it. You'll feel better...”

Muna, too tired to argue, took the bottle. She was unnerved by her secret being out, but the water in the bottle did really calm her. In fact she was relaxed enough to slip into a sleep...
