Chapter 3

Title: Storm

She stared at them utterly lost. One Fen was under a door. Two there was a man in the house well.... a lot of men in the house. Three the hell were they staring at?!

An awkward cough broke the silence, " K-Koi... darling.. get dressed.." the poor wolf had a full body blush.

"eh... wha..?" the confused barely conscious girl mumbled. Then realization hit her like a brick, she was in a pair of cargo shorts and a long sleeved button up shirt that well... was unbuttoned giving the whole room a very lovely shot of her upper half, thank the gods for bras... quickly the redhead vanished into the closet.

A few thuds and a barely audible round of cusses later. The vessel emerged and made her way across the room. After shoving the man off of the door and kicking it aside, the girl hooked an arm around Fen and pulled the angry wolf up, "Stupid male... knocking on the door at 3 in the friggin mornin' ... hitting me with the front door..." ogling MY Koi.. though the last part wasn't voiced of course because well... that would raise questions which are something Fenrir loathed.

A cough shattered the wolf's thoughts, "If the servants would be so kind as to summon Master Fenrir so--" the idiotic comment was abruptly interrupted by a low savage snarling, "Leave"

"Summon your master here before I lose what little patience I have left" he fixed his gaze on Koi, "Or I could just.." his voice trailed off and his eyes gained a sinister glint as he stepped forward. Fen was having none of this.

The next few seconds went by in a blur. Koi was quite amused as she leaned on the doorframe.

The man was flat on his back with a VERY angry and snarling wolf perched on his chest, a dagger was buried in the floor between his legs and it was way to close for his comfort. Another dagger was pressed firmly against his throat,

"Best be keepin' yer hands off my partner there mister or I swear I'll castrate yer sorry ass with a rusty spoon.." the midnight wolf spat, her accent completely claiming her voice. In mere seconds the house was empty save for the two girls. Fen smiled triumphantly and laughed, "Did ya see that?! Boy nearly pissed himself" the wolf cheered, throwing her hands in the air and nearly fell over laughing. Koi grinned at her odd wolf before wrapping her arms around Fen and resting her head on the happy wolf's shoulder blade. The icy-midnight haired girl froze, "My hero" a soft giggle echoed in her ear. "Ya must be loosin' yer mind" her heavy accent becoming lighter as she spoke softly, "...if you're startin' to see me.... as a hero Koi" she smiled sadly, 'I can't be a hero... someone like me... can never be a real hero....' the wolf girl sighed, she could play at hero yes.. she had become very good at it in fact. People tended to seek her and Koi out. Though.. they always expected Fen to be a man not some pretty half breed. Koi had convinced them all that even though Fen maybe a girl she is just as good as the rumors say, so they agreed to hire them... The low rumbling of an incoming storm brought Fen out of her thoughts.

"Fen..?"

"Hm? Yes Koi?"

"Um... do you mind.. if I stay with you tonight?"

The wolf glanced over her shoulder at her partner, did she really just ask that? Naw... it had to be her imagination talking, "Wh-what?"

The redhead hid her face in her wolf's back, "C-can... Isleepwithyoutonight?" was the muffled request.

"Sure.. just go get changed.. I'll be in after I fix the front door" she twisted around and on pure impulse moved Koi's hair out of her face and kissed her forehead.

A silence filled the house and both girls could have made a tomato jealous.

"W-WELL! I better get that door fixed before the rain comes inside!" the wolf grabbed the door and practically flew down the hallway, 'dear gods WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! I mean I'll admit she looked really cute and stuff ahhh... BAD BAD BAD!'

The green-eyed girl just stood there in shock, had that really happened? she shook her head, 'No way Fen's not that type...' a small but bitter smile found its way onto the girls face as she turned into Fen's room and stole a pair of her shorts.

Fen hammered the hinges back in place and tested the door, she rested her forehead against the cool wood and sighed, "What’s wrong with me..?" the wolf then pushed off the door and headed back to her room, stopping just outside the door. On the bed was Koi who had her arms wrapped tightly around Fen's pillow and her face buried in it. Fen blushed slightly when she noticed Koi wearing her favorite shorts and her shirt back to being unbuttoned. 'Why am I blushing? Its not like I've never seen Koi wearing my clothes before.. though my shorts have never looked so good on another person... wait... WAIT WHAT AM I SAYING?!?!' she shook her head to get rid of the odd thoughts and climbed into the bed.. one problem... she only had one pillow... so what was she going to use? After rolling her cloak up into a ball Fenrir snuggled up under the blanket and dozed off. Only to be woken up again... 'OH FOR THE LOVE OF WHAT NOW?!' another roar of thunder echoed through the house it was quickly followed by a soft whimper. The grumpy wolf rolled over to see her normally composed partner curled up under the blanket covering her ears with the pillow.

"Koi..?" the concern for her friend was quite obvious. The other girl just looked up with fear filled eyes and in seconds she was clinging to the normally cold and cut off wolf girl, who just sat there arms wrapped about her whispering in Koi's ear. The redhead pushed away, "I-I'm sorry...I should.. go ba-" the obsidian-purple eyes wolf pulled her back.

"Idiot... I know I'm not the best at comforting someone but... you should have told me. I... I mean we decided to become partners remember? .... How can I protect you if.. if you don't tell me these things?" by now the heartless wolf was red, where did all that come from? What did it matter now it was the truth.

Koi pushed away once again and dragged the pillow over, "s-sorry for stealing your pillow.."she looked away and laid down as the wolf did. Fen pulled her over and wrapped her arms around her. Koi just blushed slight wrapped an arm around fen then rested her forehead to the wolfs collarbone. both drifted off to sleep once again... and once again were woken up by a loud knocking.

Fen growled and hide her face in her pillow... wait since when did her pillow smell this good? Oh well, some how they had managed to shift so that Koi was sprawled across the bed and Fen was hugging her around the waist and using her stomach as a pillow. The redhead seemed to be quite content and very much awake since she was stroking one of Fen's ears.

"Y'know as much as I love being used as a pillow Fenrir... I would like to get up and get the door." the wolf let go grumbling something about her stubborn talking pillow making her move and proceeded to crawl under her blanket and go back to sleep. "Lazy wolf" the other sighed and started buttoning her top while heading towards the front door.

A woman opened it and stepped inside, "Honestly... Koi I've been out there for like a half hour." The woman’s hair was black at the roots then faded to silver gold at the tips and it was tied back in a messy bun. A pair of deep crimson eyes searched the room, as she took off her jacket and put it on a chair. a Dark red tank-top was underneath and across the chest it said, 'up here jackass' and had an arrow pointing up. She had a pair of black semi baggy cargo pants, a set of brown scuffed work boots, and a black blue bandanna on her head. , "I take it wolf girls still sleeping then?" the redhead just nodded, "Kyir why are you here you know fen's grumpy in the morning." The other just shrugged, "I was bored and well I've got a job for you"

Koi looked up at Kyir and grinned, "I'll go get Fen" she wheeled around and was met with an already dressed and ready fenrir.

"So what do we have to do?"

"Its just a simple delivery Kid"

The wolf grinned, she liked 'simple' things.

"WHOOO~!!" a scream echoed through the clouds as the wolf-girl dropped off the hover board, Koi just shook her head, "Be careful Fenrir!" her yell almost lost in the roar of the Airships engine.

Fen just waved the warning off and grabbed the board. Flipping and twisting in the air the girl made her way to the floating platform, once she landed Fen glanced up to see Koi dropping towards her.

"OH CHRI--" Koi landed on her cutting her off. The redhead opened her eyes and was met with a pair of swirled blue and purple. Both attempted to speak but their words where lost to them, so they just stayed like that. Until a sarcastic voice broke them out of their daze...

"I'd rather you both didn't start going at it on my lawn" an awkward cough followed the statement.

They blushed and looked up to see a woman with deep hazel eyes, a pair of glasses and her long wavy brown hair tied back in a ponytail and a blue-black bandanna on her head. She wore a worn black leather jacket a tank top underneath it and a fishnet shirt over that. a Pair of Black jeans worn at the knees and shredded at the heels, and a pair of black boots. Her skin was tanned slightly; all in all she was quite pretty.

"And you two are?"

They managed to untangle them selves and get, just as they were about to introduce themselves Kyir hooked her arms around their necks and leaned forward, "They're my Delivery girls Faye baby" the brunnete just groaned rolled her eyes and turned around.

Kyir giggled and jumped the retreating girl, "Awe love don't be like that.... " she attempted to kiss the hazel eyed girls cheek but was stopped by a book, "awe come on fa-" was all she got out before she was promptly shut up with the book. Faye loved her friend to death but sometimes... ugh.

Faye turned back to the other two, "I am Faye Guardian of the Spire of Knowledge. You two will most likely be staying here for the night.. though we only have one room so don't be to loud" Kyir snickered and headed towards the large silver spire. The hired swords followed quickly with Faye tailing them. Kyir led them to their room then went off in search of the reluctant brunette because somewhere along the way the guardian ditched them. She soon found her sitting in a window reading. Before the hazel eyed woman could protest, Kyir was on her knees hugging her around the waist and resting her head on Faye's lap, the Spire guardian just looked down at her with sad bitter smile formed on her lips. Kyir still looked so much like Ryia... Faye ran her fingers through the others hair as she read, "Are you comfy?"

"Very" the red eyed one muttered.

"Glad I make a good pillow then" the hazel girl just laughed and continued to read.

Koi woke up to find her wolf partner with her legs on the bed and her other half on the floor, "Fen?" she called softly. Fen's foot merely twitched in response, causing the redhead to worry a bit. So she leaned over the bed and looked down to see her partner half twisted, so her shoulder was against the cold wood floor, snuggling a pillow. She shook Fen's foot and was almost kicked in the face when the girl rolled over, "F-Fen! wake up we have another job!" she squeaked out. The wolf stirred and fell the rest of the way off the bed with a loud THUD and a groan.

The girl pointed into the air, "Fine.. but your buying me breakfast" she mumbled as her arm went limp and she fell backwards once again snoozing. Koi just sighed and went into the bathroom to take a shower.

By the time she got out Fen was already dressed and waiting, "I'll meet you at the spire entrance."
