Chapter 2

[Author's notes: I guess this is chapter two. Yup. And it won't be all about sex,I promise! It's just, that gets people's attention.]

With Kaylie still in my arms, I gingerly make my way out of the forest, walking slowly because she's simply too cute to wake up. The sun is now a bit higher in the sky, and I can feel the warmth of it already against my skin. It was going to be hot today, that was a definite.

"Are we out of the woods?" Her voice is musical to me, and I pause for a moment, holding her close to my body, relishing in the feel of her skin.

"Yes. Would you like to walk, or...?" My heart nearly hurts at the thought of having to let this beautiful girl go, but I know I must. It is unwise for a vampyre to become attatched to humans, that's how Imprinting happens. She sighs and snuggles closer against my chest, breathing in deeply and mumbling in a half-asleep way, "You smell good. Like...oh, I don't know. You smell...powerful, mm." I blush-not exactly an easy feat for a vampyre-before chuckling softly, "Well, that's a new one." She shrugs, falling quiet. I figure she's gone back to sleep but then she says, "My house is kind of far from here. Four, five miles? I was on my morning run when I, ehm, found you." I look down at her in sudden shock, not being able to picture the small girl in my arms running five miles. And then I remember something and laugh, making her glance at me with curious eyes.

"Nothing, m'lady. It's just...I smelled sex on you, when you found me. I am a pleasure vampyre," I inform her in a mildly teasing manner. Her cheeks flame up and she opens her mouth once, twice before groaning, "Oh, my Goddd," and attempting to turn away from me even though she's rather pressed against my body.

"Should I have not said that? Forgive me, please," I immidiately apologize, worried I'd upset her. I didn't want her to be angry with me, I was only poking fun. But human girls can be so sensitive somtimes.

"You're too sweet," she finally admits, "for me to be mad. And...it's true, after my run I go to my boyfriend's house to...shower." A rare flare of jealously bubbles up in my chest, and I instantly tighten my hold on Kaylie until she lets out a noise of protest. Lords, what was with me?? She was only a human. A human who saved your life, a voice reminds me in my head. I shake it, trying to clear the thoughts away. This was bad, very very-

"Uhm, Lynn? Are you okay?" Kaylie sounds worried, concerned even, and I nod right away. Her blue eyes stay trained on me though, seeming to pull the truth from my soul. Well, my mouth, which is close enough.

"Not exactly," I begin slowly, choosing my words carefully. "I care about you...and to be honest, I am unsure why." Her face drops like I'd just told her I hated her. "I mean, not that it's a bad thing," I hastily say, trying to correct my mistake. She relaxes in my hold, taking a deep breath and announcing, "Come on, let's run. I need to think." I nod and set her on her feet slowly, not wanting to give her a headrush. She takes off the moment her feet are settled on the ground, laughing. I stand there for a second, watching in shock as she sprints away before jogging easily to catch up with her.

"Do you enjoy running?" I ask, keeping stride with her. It was fairly quick, and her face is flushed already.

"Very much," she replies easily. I note that she knows how to breathe, which is a good sign. This wasn't the best thing to do after having one's blood sucked, but to each her own. We keep this pace for a while, half an hour, before Kaylie finally breaks and slows down, just the smallest bit. Her breathing remains calm, so I'm not worried.

"Do...you ever get tired?" she gasps slowly, trying to steady her breathing. I look at her and nod darkly.

"Yes. Everyone gets tired." She says nothing for a while, focusing on her breathing instead. Our feet tap on the road, in sync. I concentrate on this, counting in my head by twos. This girl made me think of things better left alone.

"I'm tired." Kaylie slows to a stop, and I follow her, looking around for the first time. We'd run to a small neighborhood, each house looking identical. The place gave me the creeps.

"Is this where you live?" I barely repress a shudder. Maybe it was all the people being so close together, like cattle in a field waiting to be slaughtered.... Kaylie's soft giggles bring me back, "-only ran four miles. My house is still a mile and a half away." I utter a small, "Oh," and cross my arms, feeling uncomfortable. My stomach was twisting itself into knots. Something...bad was here. I look to my left, then right, listening intently. Nothing.

"Climb on my back," I instruct, my voice urgent. "I need to get out of here, please. Hold onto me. I'm going to run." My words are clipped and terse, she seems to understand and gets on quickly, wrapping her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. Once I feel her nod, I crouch low and jump, clearing three feet easily. When I land, my feet are light, and I take a leap from my left foot, earning an excited yell from Kaylie.

"This is how you run??" she exclaims, clinging onto me.

"Yes. This is how I run. Do not worry, I've got you." I spare a glance at her and am stunned by how gorgeous she really is. Her joy is lighting up her eyes, her smile is wide and unfiltered, and her hair is flying back from her face without concern. My mouth goes dry as I remember how her blood tasted, so sweet and delicious. Unlike any blood I'd ever had. A thought struck me then, could she be the One?

"Lynn! This is amazing!" For maybe the twentieth time, Kaylie's voice interrupts my thoughts, but I can't say I mind. Her excitement is catching, and I almost pass her street because of it. Her face is even more flushed when I set her down, and she absently looks at her watch, gasping, "That took you a minute!" I shrug, blushing again and look at my feet. She wraps her arms around my neck and kisses me fully on my lips, whispering, "I'll show you my room. It's the least I can do after you got me home so quickly."
