Chapter 1

Even for an ice princess like Nina Wang, it was cold.

Especially on Christmas eve.

"I want to be with father," she said softly to the air.

Though its already been a few years since she arrived in Garderobe, she still had a single dorm. No one was ever with her during the holidays. She didn't have as many friends as she would like, either. The only one who she could really talk to was her own father. But he had a job, and friends as well. From what she hears, they aren't very nice. But day after day, even if he was complaining, Sergey would always have a smile on his face. Nina sighed. She really needed a friend like that. She usually scared off(or beat up) people during training as a first impression. After a few rejections, she grew considerably cold.

There was a knock on the door, and Nina looked up. Who could that be? Sergey said he'd be busy all day today, making and wrapping presents. She didn't get in trouble, did she? No... she was nice to her teachers. She never misbehaved or anything. The purple haired girl wondered if they figured out the reason why the students had so many injuries. Pushing worries and thoughts out of her mind, Nina opened the door. Her first site was rehead with glasses. Right in front of her was her only aqqaintance, Irina Woods. The girl laughed nervously, walking into the room before permission was granted. Nina, irritated, closed the door, unaware of the other person in the hallway.

"Merry Christmas, Nina-san. Uhm....I kinda sorta got you a gift," the redhead said, fiddling her thumbs. "...And I'm sure you'll like it."

Silence.

"....Well then, where is it?" Nina asked, frowning and hoping to hide the small glimmer of hope in her voice. She failed. Irina chuckled and opened the door once again. Outside was another girl, with golden hair. It was a short, layered cut, and it almost looked like a guy. The face, though, was positively female. It had a heart shape, and her cheeks were rosy. Her eyes, bright like emeralds, were mesmerizing.

Stare.

More silence.

"Woods-san...who is this?" Nina questioned, not taking her eyes off of the stranger at the door. "And...where's my present?" She added suddenly. This earned another chuckle. The stranger walked into the room, into the empty bed, and placed her belongings there. She then walked across the floor to stand in front of Nina. She smiled, bowed silently, then looked up. "My name is Erstin Ho." she said, the tone of her voice rich and pure. "I am your roommate, and your Christmas gift."

More Staring.

"W-What?" Nina almost yelled, losing her calm facade. "Woods, what's this about?" She looked around, and saw the girl about to leave. A smile was on her lips, and she was halfway out the door. "I knew you were lonely." With that, she left.

Erstin waved goodbye, though it wasn't seen. Nina was frozen, a look of shock still on her face. Lonely? What was she talking about? She never said anything about being lonely... Her thoughts were cut off when a pair of arms wrapped around her slender waist.

"I heard you were cold." that innocent voice said. Nina shivered, but leaned into the warmth behind her. A feeling bubbled up in her chest. Unfamiliar, but not at all uncomfortable. Truth be told, she actually liked it. One arm let go of the raven-haired girl, and moved to touch her cheek. Nina's breath got stuck in her throat. Erstin nuzzled her neck soundlessly, and she calmed down a bit.

"You can't act like this...like we're..." she trailed off, a little skeptical at what was happening at the moment. What were the odds that her very wishes would be granted? A frown formed on her face.

"Don't worry. I'll warm you up, Ni-na."

Nina was shocked. How did this girl know her nickname? She turned around to see that a smile graced Erstin's face, one that told Nina she was certain. Slowly, she returned it, albeit a little bit awkwardly .

"...Okay."

The blond's smile grew wider, and Nina could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. She took a deep breath, and said the words she'd been rehearsing in her head.

".....Thank you...Ers."

And she snuggled in the warmth that was her new roommate.
