Title: Dance On The Stage Of Memories; Chapter 13

[Author's notes: Okay, Editing all done! Enjoy! lol]

Well, I was admitted into the hospital with two fractured ribs and really bad swelling. (I guess it's a good thing Tereya did that then, huh?)
Nii-chan called mom and dad and told them, they scolded me over the phone, and their glad I'm okay, and blah, blah, blah. Sasami cried for a bit, then her parents had to come pick her up.
Tereya... Well she just helped me into the ambulance then went to class. But the entire time she had the, "Your mine, bitch" look on her face.
It truthfully wierded me out. Well, now I was in recuperation.

NOT
FUN

Boring-as-hell-in-a-bland-room is what they should call it. I couldn't have any electronics or it might mess up the machines. Meaning: No ipod, no laptop, no DS, no PSP, no radio, no nothing. I was never much of a reader, which is what they suggested, and as much as I loved to sleep, I much preferred it in my own bed on my own time.

I
WAS
BORED

I sighed as I stared at the ceiling. "...So bored..."
"Well maybe this'll cheer you up. You have a visitor." The nurse said, poking her head into my room. It was probably Sasami. The cutie came to see me everyday. She always made me perk up. I sat up as quickly as I could, ignoring the pain.
"Expecting someone else?" A blonde neko said.
"T-Tereya?" She slipped in and shut the door behind her. "I got a look at who visit's you. It's mainly UsagiRita and your brother. Highly doubt you get excited over your brother, so you must of thought I was UsagiRita, right?" I bit my bottom lip. She laughed slightly and shook her head. She plopped down in a chair and just stared at me.
It was awkward because I didn't know what to say.
"...So my mom wanted to know where my necklace was to get it shined up."

I almost died. "Wha-"
"But I told her I lost it, and I'd look for it. She wanted to kill me." I leaned back into the bed and sighed. "Your in for it. Your parents are coming back soon too right?" I nodded. "Well your just fucked, aren't 'cha?" I looked at the white, plastic strip on my wrist. Tereya got up and grabbed my wrist. "I'm up here. Look at me, not your plastic medi-bracelet." W-why was she this close to me? Her breathe reminded me of tropical fruit this time.
"If you want a kiss you should beg, mutt."
"Well your mean as ever. Although I don't think I can get on my knees in my position." She gawffed at me. "So you would." I half-heartedly attempted to nip her. I could hear my teeth click together. "I never said I'd beg. Getting on my knees is something entirely different." She somehow was on top of me now, almost strattling me, her hand still holding my wrist. "Well aren't you the mutt that's been rolling around in dirt?"
"Now I know I've told you I'm not a mutt." She licked the side of my face, then got off. "Well, when your feeling better, you can beg for that kiss and NOT attempt something else. I'll be leaving now. I lied and said I was my mother. Don't need them finding that out." My turn to grab her wrist. "What? Now I'm gonna really smell like dog." I looked at her, then let her wrist go. She stared at me. "Nani?" I shook my head. "Your just really pretty is all." She looked at me funny, then left.
I could of sworn I heard her mumble, "You too, baka..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was disadmitted - don't know if that's a real word, but it is in my dictionary. Along with shweet, and other crap. Either way! I was disadmitted from the hospital, and nothing really interesting happened in the mean while. It had gotten colder out and there was frost on the grass in the mornings now. Today was one of the days I had to go pick Tereya up.
The faint traces of snow crunched beneath my feet. October was over, meaning so was Halloween. I hadn’t dressed up for the past three years. Even if I had, I wouldn’t of know what to go as.
I heard Tereya clear her throat and tap her foot. Attention maybe? Or at least I hope I wasn't late this time...
I pursed my lips to suppress a giggle. Tereya looked so CUTE! She had one of those joker hats on, only it was all pastel blue and had white pom-poms where there would be bells. It matched her button down coat that reached her knees and mittens too.
"I guess I was right to tell you to come at an earlier time, because this makes you on time, because your always late." I gave her a sheepish look. "Sorry. I still haven't gotten how long exactly it would take me to get from your house to mine. Forgive me?" She rolled he eyes and walked down her stairs and started walking past me. "What's up with your trench coat, by the way?" I looked at my black leather coat and gloves. "What's wrong with it?" She rolled her eyes. "You look like the undead. At least get it in a different color."
"But in the winter time it's good to wear dark colors, and black does something like attract the sun and make you hot so..." I stopped my rambling, seeing as she wasn't paying attention.
"You know how we're having that mix of a Halloween and winter dance next week right? The masquerade one?" I looked at her. "N-No..." She sighed and sipped her silver, lidded cup.
(Where'd that come from? Ah well. She probably had it before but I was too busy staring at her to notice.) Either way...
"Well, they did it like that so people could dress up and not look like sluts. Point is, I want a date." I almost choked- and I can't even say on spit because my mouth was dry. "W-With who?"
"Some hot guy. I've been busy, so I can't get one for myself, so you're gonna do it for me." I walked for a second and listened to the thin snow crunch. "...So, what do you want him to be like?" She shrugged. "How would you want a guy? You wouldn't want an ass who wouldn't pay attention to you or flirt with other girls, nor try to get in your pants the entire time." I nodded. "So, I want somebody who's going to pay attention to me, he's gotta be hot like I already said, act like a gentleman- the entire time, and will pick me up and take me home." I nodded, acknowledging her, but my mind was else where. I heard her, but wasn't comprehending.
...A date...
I was finding someone for MY Tereya.
Oh, god... If I had a week stomach, I think I'd vomit. "...Okay..."
"Don't forget it's next week, Saturday." I nodded again and continued to walk, numb-
and not from the cold.
"Oh! Almost forgot. You can't go."
"What?!" Why in the hell does this feel like Cinderella?
"Why not?"
" 'Cuse I said so."
I scowled at her. "And if you don't go and set me up with an ass, I swear I'll tell what you did to my necklace, AFTER I kick your ass."
So, Monday, no date for Tereya.
Tuesday, no date for Tereya.
Wednesday, Sami-chan asked me. I had to say no, which sucked because she was so cute and nervous. Her face blushed the entire time.
Thursday, I got sick.
I was standing over the sink- if you could call it standing. I was so dizzy, I looked like KOS-MOS from Xensoaga when her health was low. I had a cold water running for a washcloth. Nii-san came out of his room dressed for school. "Hey Uru." He said, going to the fridge.
"Hi..." He looked up at me, eyes wide, expression reading something like, "did that cat just get raped by a fire truck? What the fuck? How...?" "Uh, woah. You sound like a straight guy." I looked over at him. "You do to, miss." He closed the fridge after retrieving a drink straight out of the juice container. "Funny. You alright?" I shook me head. "No. I feel like crap." He walked over and patted my head.
"Stay home then. Get out of your uniform and go rest- you need it."
I shook my head, which made me dizzy. "I can't. I have to find a date for Tereya. I was getting no sleep and stressing over a it, which is probably why I got sick. You know, for the masquerade thing-y?"
He nodded. "Oh, yeah. You going? I usually go to stuff like that with Sora."
"O-oh. No..." He raised an eyebrow. "Why? You like stuff like that, right?" I couldn't tell him that Tereya said I couldn't, because then I'd have to explain why I listened to her like she ruled with an iron fist. So, when you can't tell the truth, what do you do?
You lie.
"W-well, I don't have an outfit or a date, and I'm busy looking for one for Tereya, so..." He sat down at the table and put his jaw on the table. He popped his jaw several times at random. He did that when he was thinking.
Weird right?
At least it's better than people who are so engrossed in their thought's that they pick their noses...
Engrossed... Funny word...
Anyway, I sat down acrossed from him and put the washcloth to my forehead. After a minute or two, Nii-chan took the washcloth from me and said, "Well, you better stay sick then."
"...Wait, what? Why?" He gave me a cocky smile. "Well, do you hear yourself? You sound like a guy. You could be Tereya's date. Problem solved. You both have dates. She won't know it's you because you'll have a mask on." True, but... "Well, I don't have an outfit. Or a mask." He ruffled my hair. "I could make you one and Sori can make you an outfit."
Oh, no. No, no, no, no!
"Y-yeah, but, uh-"
"Or do you not wanna be a prince?" I stopped my protesting.
A prince... someone who could protect his princess and keep her safe, someone who would do anything for her...
...Someone who still needs to keep his promise.
I sighed. "Fine. I'll sketch what I want Sori to do out on the front porch."
"Alright. Just don't give yourself hypothermia. Oh, and don't let Tereya hear you. If she calls, come get me and I'll get it. And if your going as a guy, get a GUY name."
"Okay, grandma." He rolled his eyes and went upstairs to get his bag.
A guy name?
"A guy name like what?" I yelled the best I could from the front door.
"I don't know! You think of something! It'll be YOUR guy name!" He yelled back.
Ugh... Fine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When I was done I called Sori- er, Sora and He said he'd be right over. Yeah, that's right. Sora's skipping school to make me an outfit; what's that say about him?
Nii-san was at school, and I was still waiting for Sora.
The outfit I drew was a two piece set; pants and a long sleeved button-down shirt.
It was all white except for gold coloring here and there, like on the buttons, collar, rim of the pants, and shoulder tassels. "I know I'm asking for a lot in like, two three days, but-" Sora rolled his eyes.

"Look, If I can make a Dark Mousy cosplay, along with a Risa and Riku cosplay from D.N.Angel in a bit more than two and a half days, I'm pretty sure I can make yours, so problem, okay? Don't stress it. Cloth making is one of my specialties."
I smiled. Sora was such a good person. "Thanks, Sora." He nodded. "What's it for- if you don't mind me asking."
"Oh. The, uh, masquerade thing-y. Nii-san wanted me to go." Sora nodded, eying over my sketch. "I'm debating whether I want to go in a dress or not. So..." Sora glanced at me, then back at my sketch. "Wh-what?" Sora smirked. "Is your date a cutey?" I felt my face go bright red. "W-wha...?"
Sora giggled. "I'm just asking." He said, playful smile on her face. "Is she cute or not?"
"H-how'd you know it was a girl?" Sora rolled his eyes. "Well, let's see, your outfit is a boy's, your sick and sound like a boy, and I highly doubt that you'd be going with a boy like that, tomboy or not, Uru-chan."
!
Wait! "...You guys... you guys always just use the first part of my name." Sora blinked. "Yeah, so?" I smiled.

"I'm Sai, hajimemaste."

Sora smiled back. "Nice to meet you, Sai. Well I'm going to go home and work on your outfit, okay?" I nodded as Sora headed for the door. "Bye, Sori!" I called in my raspy voice. I heard him laugh. "Bye, Sai!" He hollered back in his unisex voice.
I went into my room and grabbed a blanket, then went back out on the porch. I-was-FREEZING.
I wanted to stay sick, not freeze to death.

Thursday, evening; I found a date for Tereya.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had Nii-san call Tereya Friday and tell her I found her a date named Sai. He fit her requirements and would come pick her up. Mom and Dad wouldn't trust me with their car, but Nii-chan wasn't telling, and nor was I, so. I felt like vomiting- and not from being sick either.
For some reason, I kept thinking it was a date, and I had to remind myself it wasn't.
Just for the record, as good as pizza is, coming back up, nooott so much.
Saturday, day of the masquerade. Sori came wicked early. (If I didn't know any better, I'd say she stayed the night- AGAIN.) I was still sick with a sore throat, so I still sounded like a boy.
She had asked Nii-san to sit tight on the couch while she helped me out.
We had to flatten the mildness of boobidge that I did have.
The mask Nii-san made me fit great with the outfit. (Sori must of told him what the outfit was like.) The mask was all white with the exception of dark blue gems (like sapphire and a few others) and one or two small diamonds adorning the sides in sort of a vine like pattern. (He used them from previously broken jewelry that me or mom had.) It only covered the upper half of my face, which I liked.
Sori had token the liberty of getting me some pure white, knee high boots, and said as long as she got to take pictures of her awesomeness on me, I didn't have to pay her back for them. (I was still going to, though.)
She helped me put my hair back into a ponytail and made sure it wouldn't frizz like it usually did.
My boots clunked a bit as I headed downstairs. Nii-chan whistled. "Who are you and what have you done with my sister? I mean, I do enjoy having a little brother, but I kind of liked my little sister too- kind of."
"Don't make me kick you." I said, showing off the boots. He put his hands up in surrender.
"What do you think? Is it alright? Do you like it Uru-chan?" Sori asked. We couldn't tell if the first few questions were also for me, or for Nii-chan, or for me and Nii-chan, so we both answered.
"I love it Sori. I'm glad the measurements from last time hadn’t changed much." She nodded. "Like I said," Nii-chan said. "I have a brother. You did a great job, Sori." He said, and got up and pulled her down into the couch with him. He leaned in for a kiss and Sori blushed.
I sang, "yaoi!" The best I could, which sounded like a guy who could sing. (I really should record something after this with my voice like this.) Nii-chan waved me off as he kissed Sori. I saw tongue.
"Eww. Guys, I think you just made me a full-fledged yuri." Nii-chan smirked and slid his hand up the back of Sori's shirt. She squealed, then moaned a bit. "Dear, gawd! I'm so outta here!" I said, grabbing the car keys and my coat. (Sori made that too. T'was also white- and awesome I might add.)Nii-chan pulled away for a second. "Take your time coming back." I turned around and tipped my head. "Aren't you two going too?"
Nii-chan smirked. "I said I USUALLY go with Sori. Didn't say I was this time." Sori giggled, leaned into Nii-chan and playfully smacked him.
All I could do was stare with an "oh my gawd, eww" look. I turned around and opened the door, saying "Thanks, Sori." I heard her muffle something like, "You're welcome."
Just as I was about to turn on the car, my phone rang. "Hey, mutt, it's me. Can you tell Sai that my parent's decided to drive me instead? If you don't have his number, I'll kill you." She sounded nervous. I made my voice as high as I could. "Mm-hmm."
"Okay, and I better not see you there, or else!" Click, beep, beep, yeah you get it: She hung up on me.
Of course not my dear Tereya. You won't see ME there. You'll see Sai though.
I had attached the car key Nii-chan gave me to my keychain so I wouldn't lose it. The keychain had only one other attachment besides keys; a small, plain, silver ring with a cheap knock off of a diamond. It was the perfect size for a small child's finger.
I stared at it for a moment, thinking of her.
I gently kissed it and whispered, "Wish me luck." And put it in the ignition.
I said a line of another Automatic Loveletter song as I put in their cd. "...Your stuck in the moment when you thought you were rolling..." Then sighed.
In truth, I felt kind of guilty going out with anyone else. Like I was betraying her. But, how was I supposed to find her if I didn't get close enough to anyone else to find out?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I stood in the redecorated gym against the wall and listened to the music. I felt so many curious feminine eyes on me; it inspired confidence.
I knew none of them were Tereya, though, and right now, she was the only one I had eyes for. If I had my ipod, I would of played "Eyes On You" by, oh my gawd, guess who? Yup. A.L. They were what I thrived off of.
"Umm..." I looked up from the floor and pulled away from my thoughts. There was this small, dainty mouse standing in front of me. "Are you waiting for someone?" I nodded. "Her name's Tereya. You don't happen to have seen her or know her, do you? She's a cat." She seemed to flinch a bit. "Oh, no. But, why her? She's pretty and popular, but she's a, um... Well, if you don't mind, why her?" curiosity killed the mouse? "...Because... because she reminds me of someone..." She tipped her head as I played with the ring on my keychain in my pocket.
I couldn't help but notice this scent- this beautiful, scent that seemed to be neutered for forever. It seemed different from other scents. I wonder if anyone else felt that way.
She smelled beautiful, my Tereya.

I turned my head and just stared. I inhaled again, but not in an obnoxious or even visible way. She was beautiful, like a princess out of a fairy-tale.
Her dress was cream, but had an extremely detailed pattern, but was plain on her bodice. It belled out at the bottom, but not in an obnoxious manner. It had no sleeves, or even shoulders, revealing her beautiful skin. She had gloves that came up to her elbows.
The dress made her chest look good. Her mask also covered the upper half of her face. The way it came out, rounded, then pointed reminded me of a simple dove charm. It had a small, cream lace flower on the corner, and diamonds surrounding the opposite eye.
I could tell that almost every guy was looking at her. I was too busy gawking like the rest of the idiots to notice a Tiger walking up to her. "Hello." He said, voice sounding like a smooth talker. She looked over at the tiger that had addressed her. She tipped her head in a dainty, classy lady way. "Are you looking for someone?" Oh, hell no. I quickly walked over to her. "You wouldn't happen to be Miss Tereya, would you?" I asked. The tiger cleared his throat and said, "Um, don't be rude, mutt. We were in the middle of a conversation." I pushed passed him to Tereya. "You are her right? The description left out beautiful and gorgeous about twenty times though." Her face flushed and she nervously blinked. I think she forgot how to speak.

"...Y-yes." The Tiger growled. "Hey!" He said. I continued to ignore him.
"I'm Sai. A pleasure." I said and gently kissed her hand. Her face turned a deeper shade of pink and she blinked.
I finally gave the tiger the attention he wanted. "You shouldn't act out of place like that in front of a lady. It just makes you seem immature and not up to her standards. Understand, kitty?" I was tempted to call him something else that meant cat, but I didn't want anything to go wrong with me and Tereya tonight. I gently took on of her hands that covered her blushing face and took her away from the tiger. (pussy cat)
"...S-so, um, how do you know Urusai? You two are the same type of dog right?"
Oh My God, she just used my name!!! "Uh, I'm her cousin from out of town. My family and I are just back for a bit. It's too bad her parents are still out. Just when we get back too." Yes! I am such a good liar on my toes! I heard her gasp and ask, "From where?"
"Nagasaki." I did move there when I was little, and in truth, we did get back only four years ago. I was little and had to leave her... I wanted to keep her safe... I promised... and I also promised- "R-really? I know someone who moved there a really long time ago and their also a dog..." I stared.

...Could she...? No. She would at least be nice to dogs, but then she was only mean to me- or Urusai rather... "Ugh. I wish they'd play something good. I wanna dance."
"Do they play cd's that we have?" I knew they did, but as Sai, I didn't. She nodded. "Yes."
"I have a cd on me, I'll be right back." I pulled away from her. "Um..!" I turned to her. "Yeah?"
"Do I... Know you, from somewhere?"
"I don't think so." I said. "Oh... Well, I'll be by the food, so..." I nodded. "Alright."
I walked to the dj and asked him to play track 3. He said he would after this song, seeing as I was the first one to request.
I walked back over to where my Tereya said she'd be, ignoring the other girls.
"I heard their going to play something like modern day ballroom music. I helped pick some of it out because I don't like to listen to this crap, so I came a bit later. I hope I didn't make you wait long." I shook my head.
"No, and yeah, I know what you mean. I can't stand this genre of music." She tipped her head and looked at me. "Well then, what do you like?" I asked her.
"Anything that doesn't talk about this girl and that one and her and how he's going to go shoot that one and such. I guess what I'm saying is I like music with a good message. So I guess things like instrumentals, classical, techno, acid jazz, things like that."
"Acid jazz... Like Tatu?" She nodded, seeming to like where this conversation was going. "I also like acid jazz. I mainly listen to rock. I also like things with weird sounds to them." She smiled. "So, uh, do you usually kiss girls when you first meet them?"
"U-uh, n-no. You were just so pretty, I couldn't help but greet you like that."
"Oh, so it's only for pretty girls you just meet?" She playfully retorted. "N-no, uh..." She giggled. "I'm kidding."
"This is the, uh, song I had on me. Hope you don't think it's to girly or anything." She giggled. "No. Not at all."
(It was the cd from the car so, you can only guess who it was. Marlyn Mansion? No.)
She inched closer to me as she closed her eyes and listened to the song I had picked out.

"Walking down the street that we grew up in, but today it's not the same.
It's like a different town, a different place, a different name.
I kick my heels against the curb,
throw a stone to where you live to hoping I'll see you again.
Hope is low, will you show?

And I remember, the day that saved us;
the way you kissed me and the salt that filled my eyes.
---
Lying on the sand, the waves are talking, but today it's not the same.
It's like a different sound, a different cloud, a different rain.
My hearts going faster with every thought, everything that happened here, and it takes, the pain away.
Hope is low, will you show?"

"I like it." She said, turning to me. "It reminds me of someone..."
"Really? Me too. There are other tracks that remind me of someone too." She eyed me for a moment, then asked, "Sai? Will you dance with me once the other music starts to plays?"
"U-uh, sure..."
I'm going to embarrass myself...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They played lots of "Kanon Wakeshima" and other similar sounding things.
She wanted to dance right away. I didn't even know how to stand, yet alone dance. "Um..." She laughed lightly and put my hand on her waist, the other in her hand.
Her hips felt like they'd break if I held her the wrong way or too tightly. "Look, now back, left, yup. uh-huh, you got it. This way, forward, there you go."
I was looking at our feet, trying not to step on her feet. I glanced up at her. "It would help if we were closer." She said a bit bashfully. I knew I was blushing when my hips touched hers. "You okay?" She asked, tipping her head again. "Uh, y-yeah."
No! But it did help. I didn't look down as much.
...I could stare at her instead of our feet. I really was holding back the urge to kiss her.
She buried her face in my neck. I was only slightly taller than her. "...You smell... so familiar, Sai." uh-oh. "D-do I?"
"Mm-hm... Like a smell I should remember for some reason, I feel like I should know you, Sai..." I was half expecting "I know you" from Sleeping Beauty to start playing. "Sai?"
"Hn?"
"...C-could you tell me... If this reminds you of anything?" It was my turn to tip my head. She came close to my ear and whispered, "I promise..." and kissed me for a moment.
I gasped and stared, my eyes wide. I opened my mouth to say something, but someone else did. "Tereya likes kissing dogs! Oooo!" It was that pain in the ass from the cafeteria that put me in the hospital.
"What's next? The girl one that you hang out with?"
We had both forgotten about the rest of the world, so as payment, we got shoved and crammed back into it.
She quickly pulled away and ran out of the room. (Very close to a Cinderella moment.)
"Tereya!" I hollered after her.
"I swear, she's like bi-polar or something." No, she's not. No one takes the time to try and understand her thoughts.
"She's a bitch." No, she's just scared and doesn't know how to convey her feelings well.
I clenched my fist. "For your information," I yelled as loud as I could to everyone. "I know Tereya better than any of you EVER will!" I ran out after her and yanked off my mask once outside of the gym to smell for her better.
After a while, I found her in a hallway crying on her knees. I put my mask back on and walked over to her saying, "Did they knock down your castle again, princess?" She gasped and turned to me.
"S-Sai, your... your..." I knelt down beside her and took her mask off. "Dry your tears. I'm here now." I said wiping her eyes.
Even though she was crying, she cried like a model. Her face didn't turn red or puffy, her eyes just got all watery and glossy (and pretty).
"Oh, Sai..." She said, burying her face in my chest. "I though I'd never see you again. I though... and I forgot and..." She hiccupped. I stroked her hair. "It's okay."
I cupped her chin and kissed her.
Her lips were warm, and her tears were wet and salty.
I felt her grip my shirt, trying not to cry harder. I wrapped her arms around my waist.
My Tereya... My princess... I've kept my second promise to you...
