Chapter 2

Title: The Elements

[Author's notes: THIS is the plotline starter! W00T!]

"Well, before I can tell you about that," continued the man, "I must tell you some information."

"What about?" Talia asked.

"It's about the elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Lightning. These are the very essence of life and our surroundings."

"I've heard about that," Tsuzunami said.

"Well, anyway, everyone of us has a core element. I myself am a Water core. You can tell by the way someone acts or in some rare people - called 'Conjurers' - can see an aura within a person. Every aural element has a color. Earth: Orange; Fire: Red; Water: Blue; Wind: Grey; and Lightning; Yellow."

"Wait, back up what ARE Conjurers exactly?" Talia asked.

"Conjurers," started the man, "are people who are supernaturally strong with their element. The way they gain that strength is through participating in martial arts, whether it's their own style or a basic form. More aggressive forms yield fire, earth, and lightning strength. More defensive and passive forms yield Water and Wind strength. The type you'll receive is based on your core element."

"What if..." Elaiya's voice drifted.

"What is it, child?" Asked the man.

"What if you are gifted with more than one element?"

"Then you'd be a sage, which are very rare. And, if I am correct, there is one sitting in this room with us."

The girls looked at each other. "Who would that be?" they asked simultaneously.

The man looked to Talia. "You..."

Talia looked surprised. "Really, me?"

"Yes...and there are three others like you. And of you companions? Tsuzunami is a fire conjurer and Elaiya a wind conjurer. But unfortunately, there are some who are against this elemental philosophy; they hunt down people like you."

"What would we do then?" Talia asked.

"They would come upon you far to fast. They are elite assasins. They call themselves 'Dark Conjurers'."

"What do we need to do, then?"

"You must visit the Five Elemental Temples, which are scattered across the continent."

"Why?"

"The sages there are able to teach you how to repel the Dark Conjurers."

After about twenty more minutes of discussion, the three girls left; enlightened by what the visitor had said.
