Chapter one: All roads lead to...

A late June morning was breaking a little cooler over the silvery waters of Lake Pawa. The clouds in the sky had just dumped its load of rain onto the land and water, bringing green growth to spring up after a very good drink from Mother nature.

Camp Pawa was unusually still in the morning sun, there were no children bouncing and jumping around on the grounds as yet. It was almost void of anyone, yet there was movement around the camp, movement of a very different variety.

A tall blond woman stood on the porch of the administration building, seemingly surveying the mostly empty camp. She seemed to eye the now slowly clearing skies overhead, and gave the few blotches of blue she could see peeking through a smile. She lowered her head a little, and gazed out on the waters of Pawa, and her smile got bigger still.

A short haired woman in cargo pants and a very bright orange shirt appeared in front of the woman, beaming a smile that was full of exuberance. The blonde woman smiled at the person who had appeared.

" I see you’re back here for another year of fun at Pawa, Olivia..." The woman smirked.

" I can’t seem to get away from the place no matter how hard i think about it once in a while, I guess, Alexis..." The shorter woman commented. " But now that I’m here... I’m not going to complain."

" This year will be a little odd, without Mrs. Granger not being here..." The blonde lady commented.

" She finally retired, didn’t she?" Questioned the lady.

" And donated her little house and the huge parcel of land to the Camp before her and her husband ended up moving down to Florida." Smiled the tall woman.

Olivia nodded and smiled.

" It will be so different here at Pawa, not having her here when the kids arrive the day after tomorrow." She said, then she smiled broader. " She really lived for opening day of camp every year..."

" She was an amazing woman.. That woman always loved every one of the kids year after year, didn’t she?" Giggled Miss Ashfield

" She has been here since either one of us arrived for our first times." Olivia said, then sighed deeply. " I guess change is inevitable."

The head of the camp smiled.

" That is all too right..." She giggled. " I talked to her a few weeks ago, she phoned me directly... She said that she might fly up here for awhile to ‘visit’."

" That is not unexpected for her to think... " Laughed Olivia. " She has a deep connection to the place here... as we all end up having."

That is so true." Alexis said, her smile showing that she had that same feeling towards this little camp on the shore of Lake Pawa.

The councilor sighed and looked at the lake for a moment, as if taking it all in. The day was starting to shape up after the rain, starting with the freshness that the air held..

" So we have a new secretary this year, eh?"

" Mrs Dandly now is the secretary... she’s related to Mrs. Granger, The girl married Mrs. Granger’s Sister’s youngest son." She said, the smirked. " She obviously knows the ins and outs of the place already... Guess it was that our Mrs. Granger made sure we had a good replacement for her."

" With her love for this place... she probably hand picked this girl, who already she knew and trusted to love the kids like she did." Olivia said.

" That would be out Mrs. Granger." Alexis said.

The two went quiet for a moment, then the head of Pawa suddenly handed Olivia a clipboard she had been holding to her. She smiled broadly at the long time councilor, her eyes were sparkling.

" You have to look at this." She beamed.

" Look at what?" Asked Olivia.

" Look at the list of new councilors that are going to be here..." She said, adding with a beaming grin. " I think you will be surprised with some of them."

" New Councilors?" Echoed Olivia, taking the clipboard. " Why would I be surprised? Happens every year that we have a new crop of them..."

" Just read, Silly..." The woman chuckled.

Olivia just browsed down the list of councilors, noting names that she knew from years past. She came upon two that stood out to her, and could not help but flash a grin that went from ear to ear.

" Mandy Thayer and Alison Grey... they are councilors this year?" She half laughed.

Alexis nodded and looked at the woman.

" Yes..."

" It’s been... what... almost four years since they have been senior campers, isn’t it?" Olivia said.

" Four years almost to the day." The woman said, leaning up against one of the porch supports. " They are going to be working here for the summer until going back to University in September."

" They are in University now?" Said the lady back, shaking her head. " Now I am feeling more that just a little old right now..." She chuckled. " Do you know what they are both taking.. or even if they are still together?"

The head of Pawa shrugged.

" I’m assuming that the girls are still together, since they are both working here this summer..." She began. " That is about the extent of what I know..."

" And you have no clue to what they are taking in University by that... right?" Olivia asked flatly.

" Exactly." Said the tall woman, laughing at herself.

Olivia handed the clipboard back and began to walk off.

" I guess we will just have to wait and see just what is what then..." The councilor woman checked her wristwatch. " They are both suppose to arrive sometime today then?"

" Just like every other councilors do." Alexis said. " All need to be here and signed in by noon

" Then I will see you at the first meeting of all of the councilors then, Alexis." The councilor said, turning and continuing on her way. " I should get things ready."

Olivia hurried away in the direction of the cabins, waving at the head of Pawa as she did. Alexis nodded and stayed where she was, now returning to her gazing out at the lake. She smiled, as she noticed that the lake seemed to be coming more alive after the rain that had fell only a short time ago. Feeling so at ease, the lake seemed to be so serene after the downpour... reaffirming that Pawa to her, was the most perfect place to be.

Miss Ashfield lit herself a smoke and stayed looking around from her vantage point. She smiled, as her thoughts were now elsewhere.

" It will be nice to see Mandy again..." She asked herself, as memories of things passed through her head, along with the mental image of the petite girl that she never quite got rid of.

The woman still felt a pull as she thought on Mandy, and she shivered the instant that she started to every time. Obviously the tall woman had never forgotten about the diminutive and very pretty dark haired girl.... not even with the passage of four long years. She took another drag to try and stem the thoughts, but that was not helping. She just sighed and tried her best to at least shift her focus. It was little help.

Barreling down a gravel road, a small blue beat up Volkswagen beetle made it’s way through the tree line, the small road ran parallel to the large body of silvery water that held the name Pawa. Two people sat inside of the small vehicle, as it sped down the narrow road kicking up some of the wet gravel as it hummed along.

At the wheel, sat a young woman with very long dark black hair and deep brown eyes. The youthful lady was balancing a lit smoke in one hand, while she palmed the steering wheel with the other so expertly. She seemed to be very intent on the road that was in front of the car, as she pushed the little beetle to move a little faster. She took a drag from the cigarette, and then settled herself on the task of keeping the car on the road.

The second person was another young woman that sat in the passenger seat. By the looks of it, this young woman was very relaxed, seemingly oblivious of how the driver was actually speeding along. The passenger had short dark hair and wore thick glasses in which she intently read from a very large book she clutched. She seemed engrossed in what ever the book was about, not even venturing to look out of the window of the car at the rustic splendor that whizzed passed. She seemed content to just soak in the words inside the book, and nothing more.

The longer haired girl, who seemed to be rather short in stature, had a smile come across her unmade up face, as she spotted a sign on the side of the road.

" We are only a few miles from Pawa now..." She said, her voice held the sound of joy in it. " I can almost smell the overly brewed coffee from here, Alison."

The girl with the glasses put down her book and finally took a look out of the car window. A smile that was as bright as the sun flashed across her.

" You know, Mandy... I am actually feeling excited about this. Just think, we are going back to Camp Pawa, and not as campers this time..." The young lady said, her voice registering that she was excited. ." We are going to be there as councilors for the summer, then we will be returning for our third year at Gainmore University after that.."

" Yeah...I thought of that while we had breakfast this morning..." Smiled Mandy, turning onto the access road towards where Pawa sat. " Gotta admit that all of this is one hell of a change."

Alison leaned over and gave the driver a peck on the cheek.

" You know what being back at Pawa means then... right now in fact..." She giggled.

" Tells me that we have been together for almost four years...." Said Mandy.

" And we are headed back to the place where we fell in love also..." She beamed back, finishing what her girlfriend had started. " Four years ago... it does not seem that long ago... you know."

Mandy looked at her lover with a very curious sideways glance

" Your being sort of sentimental for a future doctor, aren’t you?" She softly pointed out.

" Why not..." She giggled. " The thought of being back at Camp Pawa made me feel all giddy, excited and rather horny also... It’s the fact that this was the place where we were together the first time.... in more ways that one..."

Mandy let go a billow of laughter. She looked over at Alison, and saw the sweet smile that she had fallen in love with four years ago, flashed at her. Dispite the passage of time, and the newer hairstyle Alison now sported... Alison was still such an amazingly beautiful gal.... and she was her’s"

" Your not even close to be that shy bookworm girl anymore..." She said, blushing a little.

" With you... how can I be..." Alison said, slipping her hand onto Mandy’s leg, and boldly moving it under the edge of the dress the woman wore. " You bring out that certain something in me!"

Mandy shuttered, as she felt her lover’s fingers now touch the crotch of her underwear, and gently started to caress her treasure so softly. The car slightly swerved as she found herself unable to focus for a moment, but she kept the little blue bug under control.

" Hey... I’m trying to drive here." She said with a giggle, clamping her legs around the invading hand that was touching her.

" I know you are trying to drive..." Alison smirked, wiggling her fingers a little faster than before. " That is why I did it... I love the reaction."

Mandy shook her head, and kept on driving. She ignored the girl’s hand to the best of her ability, but already could feel that her lover had started things, that they could do nothing about right at the moment.

" You tease!" She poked back.

" Thank you..." Was all the bookish woman replied back, giving her fingers a more vigorous wiggling.

Mandy shivered harder and sighed as she kept her eyes on the road. Her long time lover was usually never was this forward sexually before, bit in the moment, she liked it.. She released Alison’s hand from her thighs, just letting those amazing fingers play with her now very tingling treasure for a while longer.

Alison moved her hand, as she could see the Administration building ahead of them. She winked and watched as the car got closer. Mandy shook her head, as she thought over the boldness from her partner... reminding herself that was a little unusual for her bookwormish lover. She sighed and passed it off, thinking that it was all just because they were going back into the familiar surroundings of Camp Pawa... and soon would be experiencing the change of now being Councilors
