Chapter 5

Morning came around quickly with Jemma getting little rest. Both dressed but John had hardly said anything too her except to apologize for his over reaction.

The ship was pulling into the last port before the trip home and agreed to spend it together. Jemma hugged her husband and cheerfully announced. “Today we start our honeymoon.”

The phone in their cabin rang and John took a brief call.

“That was head of security he wants to see me right away, in his office.” Groaned John as he rubbed the side of his face.

Jemma laughed. “Oh you bad boy, keeping the neighbours up.”

“Jeez Jemma. What do you think he will do?” Getting anxious about the meeting

Jemma shrugged. “ I don’t know, make you walk the plank.” trying to humour her husband

They arrived at the security office and Jemma caught her gasp as she saw Ally sitting to one side of the security head’s office. Ally looked at Jemma sheepishly then away.

Jemma was feeling sick, she now realized this wasn’t to do with the fight last night.

“Mr and Mrs Winters please take a seat.”

John acknowledged the offer and eyed off Ally then his attention went back to the head of security.

“I believe this belongs to you sir.” Pulled up a jacket and handed it to John.

Jemma’s eyes widened, then went straight to Ally. She forgot to take the jacket from Ally’s cabin and closed her eyes.

“We also found your wallet.” Handing it back.

“Thank you, my wife must of left it in the lounge.” He smiled at Jemma.

Jemma smiled lightly.

“Actually no, we found it in the cabin of a staff member, one of our chefs.”

“I told you I found it and I was so tired I forgot to hand it in.” Ally whined in her defence.

“Well Allison perhaps you could explain to Mr and Mrs Winters how come the wallet was under your bed.”

Ally couldn’t say anything without dropping Jemma in it.

John sneered. “What… you stole my wallet I want her charged for this.” Demanded John on she said she forgot.

"It must have fallen under the bed somehow. It’s returned now so lets just let it rest.” Pushed Jemma.

John voiced boomed. “No… absolutely not. I want this little bitch charged.”

“What… oh come on I didn’t take anything.” Cried Ally.

The head security flashed a glare at Ally. “If that’s what you want sir she can be taken into custody in Mexico this afternoon.”

John shook his head. “Yes do it.” He ordered and faced Ally something bothering him about her.

Ally slumped putting her head into her hands crying.

Jemma's stomach tightened. “Wait… John please just let it go.” Begged Jemma.

“no…Jemma you got to stop being soft to people like her. This pathetic, opportunist tried to steal from me and I want her punished.” Demanded John.

Head of security nodded and John got to his feet. “Let's go Jemma.”

Jemma didn’t move just looked at the distraught Ally. “She didn’t steal anything.” Said Jemma

Ally looked up. “Jemma, no” Pleaded Ally.

John watched the exchange between the two women. Jemma got up and faced her husband. “She didn’t steal it John because…” Caught her breath. “Because I left it behind last night.” She looked at Ally and smiled.

Confused John started. “I don’t understand, what were you doing in her cabin” He looked at Jemma, then Ally who wouldn’t meet his gaze. He then looked at the security for some kind of explanation when it hit him and he staggered back.

“Oh my god, you were with her last night. You’ve been cheating on me with her?” Pointing at Ally in disbelief. John started to shake with anger

“John.” Jemma called and touching his arm trying to calm him down.

John brushed her aside “Oh my god, your… you’re that… you were in my cabin the other night serving us dinner. You fucking little home wrecker!” John stepped towards her threateningly.

“No Mr Winters.” The security office's words held John back.

Ally backed away frightened.

“Sir I will deal with things on this end. You need to sort your own matters out.”

John stepped toward the door and looked over at Jemma “There’s nothing to sort out!” He spat and left the office slamming the door.

Jemma faced the security. “I’m so sorry for all this trouble.” Then left the office.

Few hours passed and Jemma pushed the door to Ally’s cabin open. Ally glanced over her shoulder at the visitor.

“Jemma you silly, foolish girl!”

Jemma shrugged “I used to be someone honest that would take responsibility for her actions. I needed to be that person again Ally.”

“And John?” Asked Ally.

“He’s not talking to me, I’ll wait until he calms down before trying again.”

“Did he hit you?” Ally looked at Jemma’s face.

“No… no John isn’t like that.” Jemma paused. “So did everything work out, you not in trouble.”

“umm kinda.”

Jemma noticed Ally’s backpack was on the bed and cupboard empty of clothes.

“Hang on I thought this was cleared up, I don’t understand” Jemma confused.

Ally smiled. “Well although I didn’t steal anything from your husband, sleeping with a ship’s patron is instant dismissal and evicted at next port.” Ally looks at her watch. “In about an hour.”

Jemma put hand to her mouth. “So this is it now?”

Ally nodded. “I’m afraid so. It’s ok I’ve always want to see Mexico and I was getting tired of being on the seas.”

Jemma leaned against Ally’s door shaking her head.

“Hey come on don’t do that.” Ally hugged Jemma. “You have things you need to sort out with your husband.”

Jemma wipeed her tears and looked away.

“Jemma, I just hope he sees this as a wake up call. To appreciate you more is what I mean. You are so beautiful and he should not take you for granted.”

Ally kissed Jemma’s forehead. “I have many more goodbyes to make, you take care of yourself Jemma. I will think of you often.”

The ship docked and Jemma looked over the side as the people unload themselves. She watched in anticipation and finally saw Ally leave across the gang-plank. She didn’t look back..
