Chapter 7

Kelsie was feeling nervous it was the first time she’d coached a team that has made it to the semi-finals. She went back to the change rooms, still all the team had not arrived and it was half an hour to kick off. “Where the devil are they.”

As that was said girls started streaming in carrying on how Ms Sedgewick kept them back. Kelsie grabs Sally “Where’s Jordan?”

“She got detention.”

“What, now oh how could she ahhhh.” Kelsie was frustrated

“Ms Morton it really wasn’t necessary Jordan only challenged the way Ms Sedgewick worked out an equation, she wasn’t even being smart about it either.”

Kelsie runs her hands through her hair “I can’t believe she could do this to me. Sally get the girls ready and onto the field.”

Kelsie ran down the corridor glancing into classrooms, she eventually sees Jordan at the back of the room, her head in a book. Kelsie doesn’t see Jane around and walks in “Jordan.”

Jordan looks up “What are you doing here Ms Morton you should be down at the soccer oval.”

“And so should you, get your things.”

“I can’t I’m sorry I got detention.” Kelsie closes Jordan’s text book and sends it flying across the room.

“Let’s go.”

“What about you know who.” Said Jordan

“Let me worry about that, c’mon.”

Both sprint to the college’s soccer field, Jordan changed quickly and joined her team-mates on the field right on kick off.

Siren sounds to end the game and the girls from Stanford College have won the right to play in the final. The girls ran around screaming and hugging each other, they leap onto Ms Morton.

“Ok ok lets take this into the change rooms please.”

Kelsie gives them a congratulatory speech and invited all the girls back to gym for pizza and drinks to celebrate their victory. The girls all cheered then went silent when Mrs Jaeger walked in.

“Well done ladies you have made me proud. It has been a long time since we were in the finals so congratulations to you and Ms Morton. Jordan yells out

“3 cheers for Ms Morton.”

Once they finish their cheering Tania whispered into Kelsie’s ear. Tania left and Kelsie followed, she saw Jordan get up as well but waved her back.

Outside she was none too surprise to see Jane

“Kelsie.” Started Jane

“Here we go.” Kelsie said rolling her eyes.

“Kelsie were you not aware that Jordan had detention.” Asked Tania

“I was aware.”

“And yet you let Jordan played.”

“I sure did, in fact I even came and got her from detention.”

“You see.” Whined Jane

“Oh and did Jane forget we had the game because my girls turned just less than 30 minutes before the game was to start, and after I specifically arranged an early release.”

“Alright settle down Kelsie.”

“No I won’t she’s gone out of her way to make things difficult.” It was Kelsie now whining

“None the less Kelsie you undermined the authority of another teacher in front of a student. This does not set a good example of discipline.

“Oh give me a break, she challenged you to change a maths principle like that’s a big deal.”

“You see Tania how can I keep the girls in line when our own colleague won’t follow the rules.”

“ENOUGH.” Shouts Tania “This is what’s to happen. Jordan is to do her detention and Jane if another colleague requests dispensation of a class you will conform.”

“Can she at least do her detention tomorrow?” Asked Kelsie

“What is the point then, the detention is for today we can’t have students choosing when they want to do their detention.” growled Jane

“Oh give her a break she just helped this team to the final let her at least celebrate it with her team.”

“I’m sorry Kelsie but Jane is right. Jordan will serve her detention today, as soon as she is dressed.”

“So you gonna tell her Jane.” Challenge Kelsie

“Me, you stuffed up you tell her.”

“I will let her know.” Said Tania

“No I caused it, I will explain it to her.” Kelsie went back into the change rooms.

The girls started to leave excitedly chatting about the pending celebration. All that was left was Kelsie and Jordan.

“Is everything ok.”asked Jordan

She could see the strain on Ms Morton’s face.

“No Jordan it’s not. I made a terrible mistake today.”

“So we won worry about it another day.’ Said Jordan cheerfully

“You still have to do you detention.”

“What….when.”

Kelsie couldn’t look at Jordan “Now.”

“You’re kidding right.”

Kelsie didn’t say anything, she didn’t have to.

“Great we fucking win and I have to do detention where is the justice.”

Kelsie put a hand on her shoulder “I’m very sorry this is all my fault.”

Jordan turns around “well I all hope you have a good time.” She grabs her gear to leave.

“hey come by later I’ll save you some…..promise.”

“yeh yeh whatever.” Jordan left dejected.
