Chapter 6

Sally was talking to some of the girls outside their English class. Jordan walked up and waited patiently for Sally’s attention.

“Jordan” acknowledged Sally

“Hi I was wondering if you wanted to go to the Rec room tonight, I know the college has got some new movies in and wondering if you want to watch one with me.”

“Oh Jordan I can’t I’m seeing.” Sally paused but the words were out

“I know you’re seeing David right.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Forget it.” Jordan enters the classroom

Sally broke off her relationship to fit in with the other girls, including going as far as dating a boy name David Becks from the neighbouring boys’ college. She did this to prove that she wasn’t what her friends label Jordan – a lezo. She didn’t want to be labelled so gave up her lover so she could fit in.

In English class each student was taking it in turns to read a passage from a play, Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. The words just seem to blend and it got worse when the familiar voice of Sally started reciting. Jordan was finding it hard to focus on her book. She wiped her eyes and realized she was crying.

“Jordan didn’t you hear me it’s your turn.” Said Mrs Jaeger

Jordan looked up at Mrs Jaeger then slowly around the room. Everyone was looking at her.

“I can’t I’m sorry.” Jordan quickly gathers her things and leaves the classroom.

Jordan escapes to the outside and she runs to the courtyard gazebo slams her bag down on the ground then kicks it around cursing.

Kelsie pulls up in her car and sees the events. She is bemused at the sight of Jordan’s antics, and walks over.

“Now c’mon is that anyway to treat your things Ms Lange.” Said Kelsie in a slightly jolly voice.

“Just leave it.” Barks Jordan

“Hey you what’s up, Ms Sedgewick under your skin again.”

“I said bugger off.” Screams Jordan then slumps to the seat her back to Kelsie

“Ok leave it with you then.” Kelsie leans over and puts a can of coke on the seat next to Jordan. Jordan looks at it

“This one’s on me.” And walks off.

It was getting late so Kelsie finished up her training program when there was a knock at the door.

“Jordan.”

Kelsie could see she’d been crying, her eyes all puffy and red. Kelsie invites her to a sit then sits on the desk in front. Jordan drops her head and tears started again.

“Hey c’mon.” she lifts Jordan’s chin, she could see the her pain, too much pain for someone so young to carry around. She grabs a box of tissues from behind and offers it to Jordan.

“Ms Morton what can you do when you love somebody so much and you know deep down they do..or maybe used to. How do you convince them things will be all right and how can someone just switch off their feelings as if nothing had happen.

Kelsie was struggling to make sense of Jordan’s ramblings.

“Jordan would we be talking about Sally.”

Jordan gasped like she’d just been hit but was too weak and sick to try and deny and just nodded.

“It is easy to go from friends to lovers but harder for lovers to go back to being just friends. Sally may think she’s made the transition but I think you will find that she too is struggling, she's just better at hiding her feelings which isn’t healthy. Have you tried talking to her.”

“Yes” said Jordan in a husky voice. “But we just end up in a big fight, then things get said that we regret later.”

Kelsie thought about what she was going to say next and sighed “Jordan you need to let Sally work through it herself, you pressuring will only push her further away.”

“You mean I should avoid her in other words.”

“No....... not exactly just don’t look to do everything together, take a step back, find another interest.”

Jordan shakes her head slowly and groans

“Why is it every time something good happens in my life it ends up going bad.” Whines Jordan

“Well that’s all part of the journey of life. The first love hurts the most because it's feelings and emotions you have never felt before. It is rough and it doesn’t matter what I say it won’t make it any easier for you, but I promise the pain will ease just give it time.”

Kelsie looked closer at Jordan who she was looking pale. She puts a hand on her forehead.

“Jordan talk to me what’s wrong.”

Jordan starts to heave and Kelsie grabs her collar and drags her to the showers holding her as she vomited.

Kelsie gave her a drink, she looked washed out so made her to lie down on one of the gym mats. Kelsie made her comfortable with a pillow and blanket. Herself then rested up against the wall close to Jordan. She reached out and stroked her face. “You will get through this Jordan, just hang in there.”

Kelsie rested her head against the wall and closed her eyes for a moment then jolted back up. The room was dark now and her watch said 9.30pm. She looked at Jordan but she was gone. Kelsie panic and jumped up “Oh no.” she sprints from the gym and searches the college grounds but could not find any sign of her. She looks up to the roof. “Oh please no.” she sprints up the stairs and bursts out onto the roof. Trying to catch her breath she looks around but no sign of her either. Kelsie nervously swallowed and edged herself to the end of the roof and peers over. She was relieved when there was nothing below.

Kelsie closed the door to the trio’s room satisfied all 3 angels were in bed safely. She turned to leave when Jane was in her face giving her fright.

“You tuck her in too.” Said Jane

“Don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Jordan….did you read her a bed time story as well.”

“Were you born this nasty or is it some you’ve acquired over the years cos it’s really consuming you Jane." hissed Kelsie

“Well it doesn’t look good you creeping around the students floors and peering into the rooms now does it. What do you think Mrs Jaeger will say?”

“If you feel you need to report this then go ahead. Oh and another thing you got my request about finishing your class early most of my soccer team is in it and they have a match tomorrow.

“We will have to see how they behave and not waste class time.”

“My god do you always have to be a witch about things Jane.” Kelsie storms off.
