Toshiro and Shosuke go through a mid-teen life crisis as their mother and father die soon after Toshiro's 16th birthday. Shosuke and Eriko are both older than Toshiro, Shosuke by a year and Eriko by three years. Eriko is the regional champion, so the brothers team up to make their way up the ladder to face Eriko and tell her the news, since they can not reach her any other way.
