Story: Eternal Bonds

Summary:

The desire to protect that which you love is universal, as is the wish for the power to step up to the task.  But when power comes at the price of the soul's deterioration and threatens the very thing it was attained in order to defend, the choice to let go of the past and accept the hand of a loved one, to stand back-to-back with them, and protect while being protected becomes a choice between life and oblivion.

Notes: Couple things to point out about this story. The first is that it's based around my knowledge of the game's canon at the time that I stopped playing so if there's inaccuracies or what have you I ask that you please forgive them.  It also goes to the fact that this story is a mix of te game's canon and my vision of the story so there may be conflicts that hardcore plyers or just generally picky readers might have a problem with.  Unfortunately there's not a lot I can do to accomodate you there.  I hope you can still enjoy the story anyway. Now here's how the story's going to be laid out.  We have a series of events, arcs of the story if you will, and in all there's about three arcs.  One individual story for each character and the events that follow both, told in a series of flashbacks leading up to the present.  Each chapter is a flashback from one character's point of view, so chapter one is told from the point of view of one main character, chapter two will be from the POV of the second MC and the it will go back in chapter three, following that pattern throughout.  Comments are welcome, I know that I am by no means perfect so I encourage constructive criticism.  Flames, however, will not only be ignored but reported without hesitation.  Unless you have something constructive to say that will allow me to improve on my flaws, don't say anything.  I am a writer, a storyteller, this is what I love and I want to get better at it.  I look to my readers to help make that possible.
