Chapter 1

Title: Prologue

Disclaimer: I do not own Sailor Moon, it belongs to Naoko Takeuchi/Toei animation

A/N: This is part of my series Love in the world of senshi. I'm planning to write three stories (Silver Millennium/ Present/ Crystal Tokyo) for each pairing (Mars/Venus, Mercury/Jupiter, Uranus/Neptune and Pluto/Saturn). I've already written first part for Rei/Minako trilogy, named 'Young love' and now I'm writing the first part for Ami/Makoto trilogy. I know it is a bit ambitious, but I'm going to take my time to finish this honorably. Since I'm going to write other Sailor Moon stories too, I will mark the stories belonging this series with the name 'Love in the world of senshi'. I'll make sure that the time line (meaning the order of the stories) is clear. Please read and review and I hope you'll enjoy it.

First love

1. Prologue

Peace and prosperity prevailed four years before the end of Silver Millennium in our solar system. Still there were two planets, which couldn't stand each other, regardless of many attempts to settle peace and friendship between those two. They weren't on the verge of war but they were in very poor terms; even all the diplomats had been expelled from the other planet. Most of the hatred and prejudices were caused by the differences between the two planets: Mercurians preferred to study and expand their knowledge of the universe constantly, while Jupiterians preferred strength and improving their battle skills. Jupiterians considered Mercurians weak people and Mercurians considered Jupiterians barbaric people.

Distrust and disgust. Those two words described well what the two planets thought about the other. But the both of them were parts of the inner planets and their heirs would be sent to guard the young princess of the Moon Kingdom at the age of thirteen. At the age of ten those heirs of Venus, Mars, Mercury and Jupiter would meet for the first in the in the Moon Kingdom's palace. In that meeting all the details about their training and education for the bodyguard duty would be decided and arranged, but for all of them that meeting would be much more; it would change their lives for good and lead to unexpected events.

---

''Nanny, nanny.'' a blue haired girl said and shook the hand of a grey haired woman walking beside her.

''Yes dear?'' the woman answered turning to look at the smaller girl.

''Who is that auburn haired girl with that group wearing heavy armors?'' the young heir of the Mercury's throne asked.

''Her? She is the heir of Jupiter. Remember what your parents and teachers have said about them and be sure to stay away from her. Those damn Jupiterians cause nothing but trouble. It is absolutely awful that we have to stay in the same alliance with them, but it is for the sake of Silver Millennium and for greater good.'' Sailor Mercury's nanny explained dramatically and mumbled under her breath: ''Those damn barbarians, they're even worse than the people of Uranus.''

Sailor Mercury frowned slightly and kept staring at the rather tall girl. She saw nothing barbaric in the other girl; on the contrary she seemed really nice. She knew that their planets weren't in good terms but she didn't quite understand why. She bet no one really remembered anymore when or why the whole two-sided hate had begun. Sailor Mercury thought the whole situation was ridiculous, but she respected her parents and therefore kept her mouth shut and obeyed them. Still she felt a bit wistful; it would have been fun to get to know the other girl better and maybe even befriend her. Sailor Mercury didn't have many friends in the palace, only servants who treated her like a royalty, which she naturally was and stayed as distant as possible. She was very lonely and really shy, not even having any sisters or brothers to keep company.

Now it seemed the same pattern would be repeated all over again in her duty. She would be seeing the outer senshi almost never as they worked in the outer parts of the solar system, so they were out of question in the friendship department. Sailor Mars would be the vice leader and Mercury believed she would be nice, but she also knew she could never truly be her friend because of the leadership matter. Sailor Mercury was sure she would never be able to act normally around her and the situation with Sailor Venus would be even worse and more awkward since she was their actual leader. Sailor Mercury sighed heavily; maybe she just should let go of the hope of finding a true friend someday. She hung her head down as she followed her parents and servants inside the Moon Kingdom's palace to meet the one they were supposed to protect. All that made Sailor Mercury very nervous; she wasn't good at fighting and things like that, but she hoped her knowledge and intelligence would be useful at least in some level to the other senshi and the princess. If she was meant to be alone, she was also meant to handle it. At least she could gaze the auburn haired girl afar and imagine she wasn't alone in the galaxy.

---

The young heir of the planet Jupiter walked through the huge yard of the Moon Kingdom's palace with her parents, soldiers and servants. She looked around, amazed by the sophisticated architecture and design of the palace, which were in the same time beautiful and practical. The palace they had on Io was rather sturdy and everything were made with the thought of war in the maker's mind. Yes, it wasn't easy to conquer the militaristic palace, but she was sure they could have made it a bit more beautiful.

''Makoto.'' her thoughts were interrupted by the voice of her father.

''Yes, father?''

''See that whimp looking group over there?'' the king of Jupiter said pointing at the Mercurians walking to their right.

''Yes, father.'' Sailor Jupiter answered reluctantly because she knew what it was about again.

''They're the bloody Mercurians and that blue haired girl is the heir of Mercury. As you know you will have to work in the same bodyguard group but beware my daughter I say; the Mercurians are as cunning as foxes. You never know what they do if you turn your back to them.''

''Yes, father.''Sailor Jupiter answered shortly.

She studied the group of Mercurians but couldn't find any of those traits her father described in them. Yes, the people looked scholarly, but that alone didn't make them whimps in Sailor Jupiter's eyes. She had heard people from other planets telling stories of Mercurian soldiers, who had been absolutely faithful to their commanders and fought till the end beside their comrades, giving all they had in their own more defending and tactical way in the battles. Sailor Jupiter was tired of hearing this and that about the Mercurians, she was quite capable forming her own opinion about the people when she would meet them; and she would soon enough meet at least one of them. If it was up to her, those stupid arguments would have been settled ages ago. Still on the other hand she knew her father didn't make a fuss about things for nothing, so she would be on her guard around the Mercurian girl.

Sailor Jupiter kept staring even more closely the other girl, who was hanging her head down. Sailor Mercury looked rather shy, maybe even a bit scared or sad. That was no wonder, since it would be the first time they would meet each other and then the amount of meetings and trainings would just increase until one day they would stay at the Moon Kingdom's palace for good. Or maybe not for good, they have their own planets to take care of when their parents would eventually pass away, but that was far away in the distant future.

''Makoto.'' her father said again.

''Yes father?'' Sailor Jupiter answered, barely suppressing a sigh.

''You won't associate with that girl anymore than your job demands. Understood?''

''But--''

''There's no buts.'' her father said adamantly.

''Yes, father.'' Sailor Jupiter answered between gritted teeth and kept staring at the blue haired girl.

The more Sailor Jupiter studied the girl the more curious she became. It would have been interesting to get to know her better, but she knew it was out of question now. But then again if she would keep an eye of the girl to gather information and such, then it would be quite acceptable in her opinion. That sounded like a good plan Sailor Jupiter mused and turned her attention back to the other matters at hand.

To be continued..

A/N: Yup, that was the first chapter and this was just for the background info. The real plot will start in the second chappie, where they are fourteen and already in their duty at the Moon Kingdom's palace.
By the way I didn't mean anything by making the king of Jupiter curse like an Englishman, it just sounded so funny there.
