6. Anywhere with you
Sailor Mars started to wake up from a wonderful dream in which she had gotten together with Sailor Venus. Sailor Mars didn't want to wake up just yet so she snuggled closer to her soft pillow. It took a moment for her to realise that her pillow felt odd and that she was lying halfly on top of something. Cautiously Sailor Mars opened her eyes. It was still dark but Mars could see and feel clearly that she was on top of Sailor Venus; her head resting on Venus' chest. Mars sat up badly startled and was relieved to find Sailor Venus still sleeping. Had the dream been true or had she sleepwalked to Sailor Venus' bedroom to continue sleeping on top of her? Sailor Mars was sure it was the latter. Quickly she tried to escape the situation before Sailor Venus would wake up. However, before she could do any of that something grabbed her arm and pulled her back on Sailor Venus. Sailor Mars was stunned to find herself looking straight into Minako's light blue eyes.
''And just where you think you're going? It isn't nice at all to leave a poor girl alone after having your way with her. Tsk.'' Sailor Venus scolded her, a serious expression painting her face.
Sailor Mars stared her horrified; she didn't remember anything like that happening last night. Maybe they had been drinking together and now she had lost her memory or something. Her lips moved but no coherent speak was coming out. Sailor Venus covered her mouth with her hand and giggled almost girlishly.
''Oh, Rei-chan. I was just kidding, relax. You're so impossibly cute sometimes.''
Sailor Mars looked absolutely relieved after hearing that and after coming back to her senses she managed to ask: ''Was last evening really true? Are we really together?''
''Hmm..Let me think.. Yes!! Now come back here, it's cold and I wanna sleep a bit longer.'' Sailor Venus stated and pulled Sailor Mars back to her earlier position.
Sailor Mars grinned goofily, thinking she must be the luckiest person in the whole world as she laid in Minako's arms.
After a moment of lying there they heard a hard knock at the front door and an impatient yell: ''Mina-chan, are you there?! It's me, Serenity!''
Both of their eyes shot open and they looked each other's in panic.
''It's princess Serenity.'' Sailor Mars whispered unnecessarily.
''I know. Please, stay here. I'll go and try to get rid of her. She probably just wants to know why I haven't spent as much time with her than I used to..'' Sailor Venus mumbled and Mars looked her sympathetically.
''I'm coming princess! Just a moment!'' Minako yelled, hoping princess Serenity waited outside instead of rushing in.
Sailor Venus jumped off the bed and cursed as she had slept in her uniform, which was now as wrinkled as it could be. There was no time to change clothes so she tried to straighten the worst wrinkles and then combed her long messy hair. Sailor Mars smiled at her antics and Sailor Venus showed tongue at her and readied herself to leave.
''Oh yeah, good morning honey.'' Sailor Venus whispered and kissed Mars hastily on the lips before leaving the bedroom and closing the door behind.
She took her uniform coat from the couch and tried desperately to make herself look professional before opening the door for princess Serenity. That was actually the first time Venus would see the princess privately after she had broken her heart. However, it didn't bother Sailor Venus anymore; thanks to Sailor Mars.
''Good morning, princess. What brings you here so early?'' Sailor Venus asked politely while thinking how on the moon their princess had managed to wake up so early, usually being late for everything.
Princess Serenity sailed impatiently past Sailor Venus who closed the door suppressing a depressed sigh.
''I was worried about you since I haven't seen you in a while.'' princess Serenity said when Sailor Venus turned to face her.
Sailor Venus tried to hide her embarrassment; she was still princess' close friend and just because princess hadn't returned her feelings she shouldn't have neglected her. But it wasn't just that; she had been so enchanted by the secret admirer case that she had forgotten her totally.
''I'm sorry princess Serenity, I have had a lot in my mind.'' Minako explained, not wanting to reveal all the details.
''It's okay, Mina-chan. I just came to check you haven't abandoned me for good.'' princess Serenity answered gracefully.
''Never, princess.'' Sailor Venus assured and princess Serenity pulled her into a friendly hug.
Had it been few weeks earlier and Sailor Venus might have as well pass out right then, but now she just felt a tiny stung of pain in her chest and wanted to get back into Sailor Mars' arms as soon as possible. They pulled apart and princess Serenity started to stare Sailor Venus with a peculiar expression on her face.
''Mina-chan, what's that on your uniform?'' princess Serenity asked pointing at Sailor Venus' arm.
Cautiously Sailor Venus turned her head and almost gulped out loud; there was Mars' planet symbol next to moon's, not Venus' like it should have been.
'Oh no! This is Rei's uniform coat! I must have left mine in the bedroom!' she thought horrified and tired frantically make up ways to explain it to the waiting princess.
''I-eh-hehe-silly me! This is Rei's jacket!'' she said and slapped herself mentally for calling Sailor Mars so friendly since she normally didn't call anyone in such a familiar way.
She let out a sigh as princess Serenity didn't seem to notice that because she was impatiently waiting a more detailed explanation.
''You see, uh, Mars hurt herself the other day and I have been helping her and I guess our coats have switched then.''
''Oh, I see. Hmm..let me get another one for you.'' princess Serenity declared cheerfully and almost ran into Sailor Venus' bedroom.
Sailor Venus' eyes widened in fear and she shouted: ''I don't have any clean uniforms right now, I'll just switch them in the morning meeting with Mars.'', but it was too late as her bedroom door had been flung open already.
For Sailor Venus' relief she didn't hear any screams of terror or gasps of surprise. She peeked through her fingers and sighed in relief, as she didn't see Sailor Mars anywhere. She figured that Mars must be hiding under her bed again and Sailor Venus had hard time hiding her smirk.
''No clean uniforms?! Minako, what on the moon has gotten into you! You're always so tidy and organized.'' princess Serenity asked faking a shock.
''Uh..I-'' Sailor Venus started sweat dropping.
''I know! You have someone you like, don't you?!'' princess Serenity yelled over enthusiastically.
''What?!''
''Yeah, that's it! Admit!''
''Well if you must know, yes. There is indeed someone very special to me.'' Sailor Venus was sure she heard a sharp gasp of horror coming under her bed.
''I knew it! That's why you have been acting so strangely! So tell me, who's the lucky guy? Is it Kunzite? He's so hot!'' princess Serenity asked squealing in excitement and Venus was sure every living soul in the whole palace heard it.
''No! Absolutely not! If he's so hot you can have him.'' Venus almost snorted.
''But I thought you liked him since you always dance with him whenever there's a ball.'' princess Serenity continued untiringly.
''I'll dance with him because my parents force me to. For some reason they try to set me up with him and I don't like it at all and don't want to talk about it.'' Sailor Venus said and immediately regretted her rude answer.
''Okay okay. Calm down. Who is he then?''
''Please, princess. I really don't want to talk about it.'' Venus said tiredly and was sure she heard a sigh of relief coming under her bed.
''Okay, okay. You can keep your secret.'' princess Serenity mumbled as she sat on Sailor Venus' bed.
'Poor Rei, I bet she is a pancake by now since princess Serenity eats so much sweets. Got to save my girlfriend.' Sailor Venus thought and tried not to grin.
''Princess, I'm sorry I have neglected you, but I'm actually running a bit late and I have to go to the meeting with other senshi soon. Could I make this all up to you and come to see you later today, so we can have a proper chat and catch up with the court gossip.'' Venus asked hopefully.
Princess Serenity pretended to be considering hard Sailor Venus' suggestion, but then her face lit and she squealed in delight: ''Okay, Mina-chan! See ya after your meeting then.''
Sailor Venus sighed in relief as princess Serenity disappeared through the door as fast as she had appeared.
''She's left, you can come out now Rei-chan.'' Sailor Venus said to the empty looking room.
Sailor Venus watched amused as Sailor Mars practically crawled from under her bed. They both paused to stare each other's for a moment and then burst out into laughter. After the laughter died down, Sailor Venus helped Mars to stand up.
''I'm sorry honey. Are you okay?'' Sailor Venus asked as she saw Mars' expression changing into more serious one.
''Yes.'' Sailor Mars answered shortly.
''Do you think I should have told her about us?''
''No! Not that I would be ashamed of you or anything, on the contrary I would like to shout it on the top of the highest building of the universe. It's just better if other's don't know since they might want to persuade us to marry some prince as soon as possible or simply try to break us apart.'' Sailor Mars explained softly.
Sailor Venus believed Mars but she also believed there was something else in her mind: ''Are you jealous then?''
Sailor Mars hesitated for a moment.
''Um..maybe a little but it's not about that either because I trust you. It's just that I thought I could spend the whole day with..you know..with just you..'' Sailor Mars confessed shyly and turned into a bright shade of pink.
''Oh, Rei-chan. You're so sweet I don't know what to do with you.'' Sailor Venus beamed and Mars tried to look the other way embarrassed, but Venus turned her head gently to look into her eyes.
''I come back as soon as I can and then I'm all yours. I would prefer to be the whole day with you but it wouldn't be fair for our beloved princess, would it?''
''I guess not. I'll be waiting for you when I get back.'' Sailor Mars said brightening up.
''I'll make this up to you later. I promise.'' Venus said winking unashamedly.
''Krmh.. okay. Shouldn't we hurry to the meeting?'' Mars said coughing a bit and trying to change the subject.
''We?'' Sailor Venus asked raising her eyebrow dangerously.
Sailor Mars gulped and tried to think a way to get into the meeting: ''C'mon, Mina-chan! My ankle isn't that bad anymore and I know I can make it if I can lean on you.'' she said hoping to appeal to that side of Venus.
''Hmm. In that case, what are we waiting for?! Let's go!'' Sailor Venus declared suddenly very enthusiastically.
Sailor Mars sweat dropped; she hadn't expected her plan to be so effective.
''Hold your horses, how about breakfast and other things?'' Mars asked, trying to stay calm.
''Oh yeah, ups.'' Sailor Venus said scratching the back of her head comically, ''You stay here, I'll get us some.'' Venus announced and left before Mars could protest.
Sailor Mars sighed and sat at the dining table to wait Sailor Venus' return.

The meeting had ended too soon in Sailor Mars' point of view and she had had to say goodbye to Sailor Venus for few hours. She knew it was silly to feel that way since she had been alone all that time and now it would be only couple of hours. Sailor Mars had been pacing around in her room until she had come up with a plan: A romantic evening and dinner part 2. She had decided to ask Sailor Jupiter for some advice in cooking. A while ago Sailor Jupiter had confessed to Mars that she knew how to cook. After that they had started to exchange recipes. If someone knew what they were doing, they might find it extremely amusing that two heirs of the most militaristic planets of the whole galaxy were changing recipes in their free time. However, this time Sailor Jupiter had been in a hurry and nearly thrown Sailor Mars out of her personal room after giving one of her best recipes. Sailor Mars was sure it had something to do with the giggles coming out of Sailor Jupiter's bedroom. Next pace was to fetch ingredients from the palace's kitchen. She always got the best ingredients because she had managed to befriend the stubborn and strict cook (which was really amazing achievement); it all was thanks to the of the fact that the cook had been totally impressed to see there existed an even more stubborn person than he could ever be. Sailor Mars herself wasn't especially good cook but she had wanted to learn little bit so she wouldn't starve if she would be in a situation where no one was cooking for her someday.
Finally everything was ready: the dinner was done and the table set and she had changed her clothes, which had managed to get dirty while making the dinner. She grinned smugly while she started to wait Sailor Venus. She wanted a revenge for last night's teddy bear treatment and all the teasing she had received along the way. Mars positioned herself out of the view and waited patiently for her dear girlfriend's arrival. Her leg didn't hurt that much anymore thanks to her senshi healing ability and she was sure she would be able scare Venus pretty good. A grin appeared on Sailor Mars' face as she heard bootsteps coming from the corridor.

Sailor Venus walked down the corridor leading to her and Mars' rooms sighing loudly. She had had to listen three hours of princess Serenity's rambling about how gorgeous and wonderful the prince of Earth was. She was happy that her crush for princess Serenity was history or else she wouldn't have survived the experience alive. Venus was also irritated that she couldn't have spent the whole day with Sailor Mars. The sweet girl would have at least deserved that after everything, but a smug grin formed on Sailor Venus' lips as she thought ways to make it up to her. 'Or maybe not making up but maybe making out instead' Venus thought and chuckled to herself.
Sailor Venus helped herself into Mars' room without knocking but didn't see anything as she entered. It was almost dark, the only light was emitting through the windows.
''Rei-chan?'' Sailor Venus asked but didn't get an answer.
She looked around but everything seemed to be in order and there was a scent of food floating in the air. 'Where is that girl? I hope she isn't overdoing herself again.' Venus thought as she stepped further into the room and called Sailor Mars again but didn't get an answer this time either. 'Maybe I should have turned the lights on, this is starting to get a bit spooky.' she thought, being almost sure that there was someone with her in that room. Just when Sailor Venus was about to leave to check her own room, something or someone grabbed her behind, pinning her hands to her sides with right hand and putting left hand over Sailor Venus' mouth. Sailor Venus tried to scream but couldn't as she was tackled and pinned on the couch. Normally she would have been absolutely terrified at this point but the way the 'attacker' had held her was anything but hostile and she had been thrown on the couch carefully; she was sure her girlfriend had ambushed her. Sailor Venus was annoyed that she hadn't invented this and that she had been so easily fooled by Mars of all people. Muttering angrily she tried to come up with a way to turn the tables down.
Sailor Venus tried to fight back as Mars straddled her waist and held her hands behind her back but it vain as Mars was physically stronger. Sailor Venus decided to use other kinds of weapons; Venusian weapons.
''Heheh. Hi, my great leader. I didn't know catching you would be this easy.'' Sailor Mars said obviously amused as Venus tried to break her gentle but firm grip.
Sailor Venus didn't answer but kept struggling until she finally gave in and answered: ''Okay, you won. You know physical strength isn't Venusian trait. That job goes to you and Jupiter while Mercury handles the intelligence side.''
''Oh really? Where does that leave you then?'' Mars asked grinning.
''I lead the group and seduce the enemy of course. Let me go and I'll show you some of that.''
''In your dreams. I have to have my fun too.'' Sailor Mars said cockily but started to worry as Venus didn't answer right away and instead started to tremble under her.
''You're *sob sob* so mean and barbaric. Okay *sniff sniff* you can have my body and *sob sob* do what you want with me''
Sailor Mars was absolutely terrified by the turn of events. It all had meant to be merely a joke, never anything like that.
''Minako, I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you and I certainly didn't mean to do anything like that. I-'' Mars said quickly and let go of Venus' hands and lifted her weight off her but that was a thing she shouldn't have done.
As soon as Sailor Venus felt Mars rising off her she spun around and wrapped her long legs around Mars waist. Sailor Mars was even more confused than she had been a while ago and found herself on lying on the floor as Sailor Venus had thrown her there incredibly fast. Before she had any chance to make a vocal response or react to the situation in any way, Sailor Venus was on top of her, pinning her hands effectively on the floor with her body weight while straddling Mars' legs with her own. It wouldn't have been necessarily since all Sailor Mars could do was to stare the triumphantly smirking Venus in shock; you should never try to beat a Venusian in their favorite game.
''Gotcha! You are so easy to fool, honey.'' Sailor Venus said smugly as Mars kept staring her in disbelief.
''Y-Yo-You sneaky blonde!'' Sailor Mars blurted out finally.
''Hehe. Dontcha know that everything is fair in love and war? You know, I'm not the leader just because of my looks.'' Sailor Mars' jaw was hanging out of place thanks to Sailor Venus' modesty.
''Hmm.. Now I have to make up to you today's absence.'' Venus whispered and started to nibble Mars' neck lightly with her teeth.
Sailor Mars recovered from the earlier shock and was able to think rationally again, regaining some of her earlier playfulness.
''We shouldn't...'', she whispered huskily, ''..the food is going cold..''
''Okay then.'' Sailor Venus answered letting go of Mars' neck and standing up abruptly; leaving the bewildered Mars lying on her back on the cold floor.
''And its ten for Venus and one for Mars!'' Sailor Mars heard Venus mumbling as she walked to the dinner table and sat down to wait for the promised food.
Sailor Mars blinked few times unbelievingly and then stared Minako annoyed. Sailor Venus just sat innocently at the table and rushed Mars. Sailor Mars looked slightly irritated as she got off the floor, her eyebrow twitching as she tried to contain her temper. Who would have guessed that just a day of being together with the love of her life would make her go insane; at least Mars herself hadn't.
''You are such a tease..'' she muttered to Sailor Venus who just brushed her long hair sexily in response, there certainly were sides of her girlfriend Mars or anyone else hadn't seen earlier.
Sailor Mars sighed in defeat and readied to serve the dinner, but somehow she managed to trip over the hem of the mat and fell on the floor with loud thump.
''Oh my hand..'' she mumbled as Venus hurried for her aid.
''Are you okay, Rei-chan? Gosh, I didn't know you can be so clumsy. Hmm, maybe my presence makes your knees go weak.'' She said and laughed a bit.
Sailor Mars glared at her in silence as she inspected her hand.
''Oh poor Rei-chan. It looks like I have to feed you after all, hehe.''
That was too much for 'Rei-chan' and a desperate growl could be heard coming from the senshi's dwelling area. Even the queen herself ceased all the activities for a moment to inspect whether or not a group of angry youmas had invaded her palace. When she was sure nothing was out of order, she continued her paperwork thinking how bureaucracy sucked.

Several days after the incident Sailor Mars' hand had healed as well as her leg and the events of that faithful night had been wisely forgotten. Time passed fast as the two lovers got to know each other's better. They also had a dinner together every evening and played teddy bear for each other every night. After Rei's ankle had gotten better they started to go for walks in the garden or visited the children at the public infirmary. Just when they both thought things couldn't be better, they both got an invitation for an emergency meeting in the middle of the day.
''Have you any idea what this could be about?'' Sailor Mars asked as they walked down the aisle leading to the meeting room.
''No, I haven't heard that anything was out of ordinary. Just the usual arguments between planet Mercury and planet Jupiter and of course the increasing political unrests on the planet Earth. If I would have to guess, I would go for the latter.'' Sailor Venus said and Mars fell silent as she suddenly got a bad feeling about the whole thing.
Both of them walked the rest of the way in silence and they both were surprised to find everyone already waiting for them. There were Mercury and Jupiter, queen Serenity with her royal cats and advisors and the head of the queen's bodyguard's group. But what worried Venus and Mars the most was the fact that there were also the head of the Moon kingdom's army and Sailor Uranus, whom they had seen only once before since she was always guarding the outer parts with Sailor Neptune. The shutting of the door echoed in the room as everyone stared each other's in silence.
The meeting lasted long and it was already night when everyone packed out of the meeting room.
''Do you think we made the right decision by not cancelling tomorrow's ball?'' Sailor Mars asked as they left the room.
''It's hard to say. On one hand it would have been better to cancel it and see how the situation will develop but on the other hand its better not to scare people if there is no real threat after all.''
''Yeah, I think so too.. Do you want to take a walk in the garden? I know its rather dark but-'' Mars asked hesitantly.
''Sure! I need something else to think than this problem and tomorrow's ball, where we have to pretend to be our planets's perfect little princesses..'' Venus stated and Mars smiled at her assuringly.
Venus stared her for a moment before saying shyly: ''Rei-chan, promise me that we will have at least one dance together tomorrow.''
''I promise.'' Sailor Mars said solemnly and Venus relaxed a bit, knowing there would be something worth of waiting in the next day.
As soon as they walked through the garden gates and were out of sight, they reached unconsciously to hold hands as they walked down the path leading to the right side of the garden. Finally they reached the end of the path and came to a small fountain, where they usually spent time when they weren't in duty. Tonight, however, it was even more romantic: the stars shone in the night sky and planet Earth could be seen clearly, radiating its exotic colors. Sailor Mars pulled Venus closer to her and wrapped her arms around Minako's waist. Sailor Venus rested her back against Rei and gazed the night sky.
''Have you ever been on Earth, Rei-chan?'' she asked dreamily.
''No, I haven't. But I would like to see it..with you. They say it's a beautiful planet with an unique and rich flora.''
''I would like to see it too, with you.. someday. I just hope the people there appreciate what they have.'' Venus mused.
''At least I do..'' Mars whispered almost inaudibly.
A smile appeared on Sailor Venus' face as she turned around in Mars' arms, not breaking their hug. Sailor Mars smiled contently as she leaned and kissed Venus softly. When they broke apart Venus kept gazing intently into Sailor Mars' lavender eyes. She knew Mars loved her; she had said and showed it many times. During the time they had spend together Sailor Venus had come to the conclusion that this time what she felt was indeed love, not just lust or simple liking. Venus had shown her love and affection to Mars many times but she hadn't actually said it out loud even once. Now she wanted to say it to Mars and make it somehow even more real than it already was. The opportunity was perfect: they were alone in the darkening night, surrounded by hundreds of flowers which gave gentle scent to the evening's cold air, as the constant sound of water cascading in the fountain could be heard in the background. Water's surface reflected almost magically the shone of the stars as it flowed restlessly. Sailor Venus took a deep breath before she took the final leap of faith in the field of love and whispered: ''Aishiteru, Rei-chan.'', giving away her heart for good as she kept her eyes locked with Mars.
Mars' eyes widened a bit in surprise but then a touched and spontaneous smile tucked her lips as a single tear rolled down her cheek.
''Oh, Mina-chan. I love you too.'' Rei said softly as she brushed Venus' bangs out of her eyes.
Slowly their lips met and they lost themselves in a sensual, lingering kiss. At that moment all they cared for were the one in their arms. Tomorrow's worries seemed to be light years away.

A/N: That was the sixth chapter and I honestly wish that I could have ended this here, but I can't because the next chapter will play an important part in the second part of Mina/Rei trilogy. I also would have liked to make this story way more sexual, but the fact they are so young held me back. I will fix that in the second part of the trilogy, heheh.
