[Author's notes:

Can you say character development? I am so happy to finally get through this chapter. The next one finally has some action. I love any action in my stories. but meeting the characters is usually sucky and boring. Feel free to rate and review the suckiness of my exposition and as always

thank you for reading!

Orientation was brief but effective with Ms Garder doing it herself.

“The dorms are located in the southwest part of the campus” she said pointing to a pair of houses on a holographic map she had opened from a black pad on her desk. “ You will wake up at 7 each day for breakfast, lunch is at 12. Don't be late. You have 8 classes, four each day, and will be expected to be on time to each or a very harsh punishments will be passed down.”

She paused and looked at me to emphasize her point. I nodded and she returned to her speech.

“we do not promote you like normal schools. As a freshman you have evaluations starting at 6 months and if you don't pass you don't move up. Promotions go from freshman, to second year freshman, then sophomore, junior, and senior. When you move up you get trusted with more clearance into the inner workings of the main building and organization until you have full clearance and become a full agent.”

“Any questions?”

I almost let the words “how soon until I get clearance to special weapons” slip, but thankfully caught myself before the words escaped.

“Is there a quicker way to be promoted?” I asked

“After two months you are allowed to request a test that will be decided by the test committee and I but this is only for your first year.” She awnsered

I nodded, holding my relief in. Mom And Natalie's appendages might not stay attached that long, but at least I knew had better odds now.

“Ok then, moving on” she said satisfied by my head gesture. “ There is one last thing, possibly the most important thing, we must discuss. Choosing the group you will join. Under normal circumstances, meaning had you been here last week like you should have been, you would have gotten to meet some of our girls and make your own decision. I highly doubt you have any idea which team you want to be on, Therefore I will choo-”

I'd be lying if I said I hesitated. “The girl outside...Her group.”

“what?” the surprise only registering on her face for a second before falling back under control.

The girl outside...Renee right? I wanna join her team.”

“Are you sur-”

“Yes. I'm sure.” I wasn't sure. Not in the least, but something inside me made me feel like I had to do this.

“Look” She sighed crossing her arms and leaning against the wall. “Renee is a very pretty girl but-”

“What the fuck does that have to do with anything! I'm not basing my decision on that!” I shouted rising out of my chair.

She stayed silent after my outburst, letting the quiet put me back in my place. I felt a little more than embarrassed as I sat back down. I was usually the calm and collected one, I was extremely out of my element.

But, she and her team have consistently underperformed.” She continued after a minute “I feel as though your wasting what talent you have, just because of one pretty face.”

I knew she was right. What the fuck was I doing. Natalie was stuck in god knows where. The threat of dismemberment and death hanging over her head, and here I was making things harder for myself over a girl I didn't know, and she didn't even seem interested in meeting me anyway.

“I want to be on her team.” I responded

God I'm stupid

~~~
I was ready to pass out and it wasn't even midday yet. The sun hanging high overhead as we left the office, bearing down unbearably on the now mostly deserted hills. A few girls still lounged around reading, one girl jogged down the path perpendicular to ours.
“So what now” I asked yawning and stretching my arms above my head
“Now, we move to the Colosseum holding room for this evenings theam fortitudo provocatio.” She said nonchalantly scrolling through an Armpad and responding to a message, her fingers flying around the letters on the blue projection emanating from her for arm.
“What?” I asked
“team strength challenge” she answered nonchalantly
“Look I'm sure that whatever is going on over there is very exciting, but... I'm pretty tired and I think I'd rather go to my dorm room, I haven't even met my roomates yet." I pleaded
“I'm sorry but your involved in the “excitement” at the Colosseum” she looked up and saw my face fall as I realized I wouldn't be able to roll back into bed. “I'm sorry but you pretty much laid your bed so you might as well sleep in it. I told you your team has been under-performing, They will be facing the consequences in the Colosseum.” with that she began walking, and I followed, an exhausted expression swimming on my face.
~~~

The walk to the Colosseum was silent and boring. The campus was huge and we saw no other people on the way. We did pass some large Forrest areas, a few simple buildings ,some were two stories; some were four, and some fantastic mansions that I assumed the students lived in. These structures were fun to look at...for the first 45 minutes.

“Does everything take so long to get to at this school?” I asked as we finally saw the Colosseum break the empty horizon. Even from as far away as we were I could tell it was humongous, Gleaming pillars supporting it.

“Almost everything you will need will be in a highly concentrated area, You have no need to worry” She said before returning to the pad her eyes hadn't left since we began walking.

We finally arrived and I started to go through one of the turnstiles leading into the structure when Ms. Garder stopped me.” You won't be entering through here” she said before walking to the left. I dutifully followed until we came to a door around the back. She took a key out of her pocket and opened it.

We entered a completely white room. A red couch sat in front of of a small TV. There was a small but well equipped kitchen, and in between it's bar and the couch was a high wooden table that 4 girls sat around. All of their heads whipped around as we made our entrance.

Ms Garder was the first to speak. “I know you were promised no distractions but this is pretty important, This is Tara Laster, I'm sure all of you are at least familiar with the last name if not the first. She has recently enrolled and will be joining your team from here on ou-”

“Are you serious?!?!” Renee shouted as she jumped from the table. “We are barely ready for tonight and you give us another girl to train and prepare before this afternoon!”

Ms Garder used her vintage move to quell the outburst. The silence loomed over everyone causing everyone to begin squirming and looking around. “ Tara is joining your team and that is final” she said thankfully braking the awkward silence.

Renee dropped back into her chair in defeat as Ms Garder, apparently happy with the quiet chaos she had caused left the room and pulled the door closed behind herself.

“Hi guys” I said as all eyes bore holes in me.

“Hi!” one girl said quickly rising out of her seat and walking over to me. My previous welcome made the excitement in her voice a surprise.

I reached my hand out for a handshake but she ignored it at went straight for a hug. She was a head taller than me and intense muscle tone showed in her arms. I was caught way of guard as her arms encircled me and her long blonde hair flipped into my face.

She released me way after any hug should be released. She wore a white wife beater, her large breasts causing the shirt to show almost half of her stomach.

“My names Zoe” she said as we separated and I eyed her, I was gonna be ready to avoid the next hug.

Her accent was either Australian or British. Who could tell the difference these days?

The other two new girls rose. Both were short but one was black and quite a bit smaller than the other, her eyes were wild and she wore her hair in tight short dreadlocks. The other had calm quit blue eyes. Her dirty blonde hair was cut in a severe diagonal angle that didn't pass her jaw.

The black one jumped onto the table and grabbed onto a light hanging above. I stood transfixed as she used her momentum to swing back and forth. She let go right when I thought the poor light couldn't take anymore, flipped through the air and landed inches from me.

The strangeness of it all had me frozen and it only got worse as she began to sniff me. Her hair shaking as she went up my thigh with her nose. Zoe grabbed her and pulled her back.

“Sorry about that” She said quickly “This is Maeby, She's just meeting you in her own special way. In fact, I think she likes you.” She said smiling at me. “Sit Maeby.” She commanded. Maeby clicked her tongue and smiled before leapfrogging back to her seat.”

Jesus, is anybody on this team normal I thought as the last girl stepped forward and shook my hand.

Her hand was small and delicate and I barely realized it was there. I was still a little dazed from my past two introductions.

“Hi, I'm Emma” her voice was barely above a whisper but I heard her clearly. There was something about her. As soon as we touched the room seemed to fade away, It was just me and her. I felt like I had known her all my life and something told me she felt it too. I didn't mean it in a sexual way at all, I had never been attracted to 13 year olds and that was at least how this little girl looked.

“Are you guys quite finished” Renee said bringing us both back to the room. “I'm Sure you are all glad to meet Ms Highness over there but we still have a battle to prepare for so please return to your seats so we can survive tonight.

Ms Highness? Really?

Every girl returned to there seats but there was no chair for me, a problem Renee did not seem too eager to rectify. Zoe offered me her seat but I declined. Ms Highness my ass

“Listen we don't know what we're facing” Renee began. I was almost sure she was talking to me but she refused to look in my direction. “As I was explaining, the plan is to stay together. We fight as one, no one break off and try to be the hero. We will us the arrow formation in case there are multiple enemies. We are not going for the weapons first lets at least see what we're facing first.” Everyone at the table was nodding. Well except Maeby who sat with a blank expression.

“You” Renee said finally acknowledging my presence

“Yea” I answered

“Just stay out of the way and try not to die.” She said as she got up from the table and plopped down in the couch.

[End notes: I think i'm reaching a good balance with length in each chapter. What do you think? I like long chapters, but not too long]
