I wasn’t afraid to die, but I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t have thoughts of what could have been. Then again I'm still not sure if I'm human or not. I don't feel anything yet but I bet that’s because of all the broken bones making my body go numb. The dull thud of my heart in a shattered rib cage, or the pulsating arteries running up and down my broken arms along with humongous gaps where my thigh bones should be. I sensed Lea a mile away and sent out a feeble mind message. “stay away”. I wasn't sure if she got it or if she would even obey and keep herself from falling into the same fate as me.
I lifted my head slowly hoping to see where my enemy had gone but I didn't get the chance. Halfway through immense pain ripped through my very soul threatening to crush it. Despite my will tears started flowing as I whimpered and moaned on the dusty ground. Small pieces of glass surrounded me and pierced my skin with any movement. Just when I had begun to wish for death her face came into view and I realized begging for it would not be needed. After all I had done there was no way this tall grey haired woman I had been ordered to assassinate would show mercy. Not that I wanted her to anyway.
She stood over me for some time, and my anger blinded me, turning my vision red and causing everything around us to turn black. If I hadn’t been so angry I would have seen that she wasn’t looking down to admire her handiwork, the look on her face was one of sadness as if she was disappointed that she had to kill me. She looked down at me and I glared back hoping she had gotten the message. I remember thinking I embrace any death you give me.
But somehow she found it in her heart to forgive me. Somehow she gave me something better. Somehow she allowed me, a second chance.
