The morning after sex with Kate (in the past)
“Wake up…. Come on wake up” a voice yelled at her.
Lennie murmured “go away”
“Leena…. get up, we’re going to be late.” With that, the person yelling at her picked up the side of Lennie’s mattress dumping her onto the floor with a thud.
Lennie rolled over and opened her eyes. She was met with her own reflection, her twin sister. “Come on, have shower.”
Lennie rises and walks off just as her sister starts at her “how can you stand living in this pig sty? Look at this bed! When was the last time you changed your sheets?”
Lennie yelled “I don’t know… when did you last do it Serena?”
Serena grabbed a large pile of dirty clothes and stripped the bed throwing it into a duffle bag just as Lennie came out, naked and looking for clothes.
“Oh where is your dignity Len? Put a towel on. I don’t need to see you naked.”
Lennie laughed “You’re just jealous because you’re fatter than me.”
Serena picked up the duffle bag and threw it at her, nearly sending Lennie through the wall “okayyy, ease up there Tyson.”
“I’ll do your washing, but it’s going to cost you.”
“What about doing it for love?”
“How about jamming all these beer bottles up your twat?” she retorts as she cleans up.
Lennie eventually comes out and Serena growls “just ’cos you are doesn’t mean you have to look the part all the time.” seeing her sister in black jeans, black tank top and hair slicked back “sometimes you could just stick a sign dyke on you and save the hassle.”
“What... I like this look”
Hands went on Serena’s hips signaling play time was over “put a shirt on Leena Banks…. now”
“Ok ok… jeez!”
Lennie walks out with a white shirt, most of the buttons missing and only one done up in the centre, her sleeves rolled back and collar up. Serena walks over and puts collar down “going for the Jim Morrison look today?”
“I have no other clothes” Lennie replied sheepishly and reaches into her jeans pulling out 50. Serena unashamedly snatches it and they leave.
“It’s a big day for our brother…. we are finally meeting his fiancé. I’ve never seen Josh so happy” boasts Serena, she then looks at her passenger “don’t screw it up Len”
“Hey... at least you won’t be introduced as the lesbian daughter.”
Serena laughed “yeah well….. That’s mum.”
They arrive and go inside. Their mum greets them, smiles at Serena and groans at Len.
“Darling don’t you have any nice clothes?”
“Mum…. don’t start on her” defended Serena.
Although she was only 2 minutes older than Lennie, Serena took her role as big sister seriously and was always ready to defend her sister. She was often the first to berate and chastise her as well.
“Alright…. It’s your brother’s day… so-”
“I know mum. Don’t stuff it up” finished Lennie.
Her mum smiled and touched her daughter’s cheek affectionately “good girl… now you got my message about picking up some nibbles, cheeses, dips?”
Lennie’s eyes widen “message… ummm” looks at Serena for help.
Serena laughs and holds up the bag for her mum “thanks Leena…. Now go outside”
Lennie looks at Serena and mouths quietly “thank you, love you” but all Serena did was hold out her hand. Lennie again dug into her pocket and her sister took the rest of her money. All her tips from the night before were swallowed up by her sister.
They head outside to see Josh and her fiancé. As they strolled up Josh jumped up, happy to see his older sisters. “I didn’t think you were coming”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world” says Lennie.
Josh smiled and turned to his fiancé. “Sarah, these are my sisters Serena and Leena”
Sarah stepped forward and hugged them both “Josh has told me so much about you both, I’m glad I finally get to meet you”
Lennie smiled “yeah Josh talks about you non-stop. But until now I thought you were a figment of his over active male imagination.”
Josh eyes widen and Lennie felt a sharp jab to her ribs by sister “but it’s wonderful to put a face to a name...” she recovered.
“Yes Josh… we should have met Sarah ages ago, you’ve hiding her from us.” Says Serena
“Well what do you expect…. I know what you two are like” looks directly in Lennie’s direction.
Lennie poked her tongue out.
Their attention is turned to two people walked from inside, along with their mother.
“Great my parents are here” announces Sarah.
They all turn and Sarah introduces everyone.
“This is my mum Laura. And this is my other mum-”
Lennie looks at them and wanted to shoot off into space.
“My other mum Katherine.”
“Please, call me Kate” she says nervously, having instantly recognised Lennie.
Lennie shook both of their hands, but her head was spinning. She had just slept with her brother’s future mother-in-law
Mum broke the moment and brought out the nibbles and encouraged everyone to sit. Lennie didn’t want to, but Serena urged her over.
“You know… I need to take a shower” came Lennie’s excuse.
“Shower?” chorused her mum and Josh.
“Yeah I’ll be back…. in a while” and races off inside.
Josh looks at Serena with pleading eyes “I’ll go and persuade her not to have a shower.” Serena goes off after her sister.
Lennie was sitting in her former room tapping leg and biting her nails.
“Just for one day, can we not make it about you.” Growled Serena.
Lennie looked up “It’s not like that”
“Yes, it is. For Christ sake Lennie it’s our brother’s day and all you can think about is how to make a scene.”
Lennie looked up at her sister and offered no deference or rebuttal
“Right… let’s clear this up then, come on what is it?”
Lennie got to her feet and thought about saying it “Serena it’s like this, I last night slept with one of Sarah’s mums, Kate. It was the most unbelievable night of hot, passionate sex.”
Lennie is shaking from her daze “Leena, snap out of it. Please it’s our baby brother, so fucking pull yourself together and join us….. Or so help me...” Serena holds a clenched fist up to prove her point.
Lennie nodded, she also knew not to piss off her sister to the point of violence and blood.
Lennie and Serena returned to the table and Lennie apologized. There was some small talk over lunch in which Lennie only participated in a little. She occasionally glanced at Kate and at one point their eyes connected and quickly diverted.
Laura spoke up “so what do you do for a living Serena?”
“I’m a journalist at our local paper. I have my own column as well as doing other local pieces.”
“Leena… Lennie sorry” Laura diverted her attention.
Lennie smiled but before she could answer her mum spoke up “Oh I didn’t tell you, my daughter is also a lesbian.”
This was met with silence followed by a groan from Lennie.
“MUM….” moaned Lennie “how many times have I told you, you do not have to introduce that part of me.”
“Well I just want people to know I’m not ashamed… some mothers would be”
Sarah’s two mums both smirked.
“Well I’ve also told you that when you are around other lesbians you do not have to tell them, they know.”
“Yes my daughter did explain that you all have this built in gaydar.”
Laura laughed “yes…. some times.”
“I just don’t get it” says Mum
“Mum, can we not talk about this now” pleads Josh
“Yeah mum” both Serena and Lennie chorused
“You kids of today, too many hang ups is your problem.”
Sarah smiled “It’s good that you are supportive Joyce. I had a rough time in school, but I never felt ashamed of having two mums. They mean the world to me and I’m glad you have an open relationship with your daughter.”
Serena leaned into Lennie and whispered “not as open as your legs hey sister”
Lennie blushed and kicked her under the table.
Lennie was beginning to feel tired and had had enough of playing the good sister. “Well I’ll clear the table.” She offered as a quick way to escape.
Kate spoke up too “oh I’ll help you”
Lennie freaked “NO… I mean, you are guests, please I can handle this”
Lennie went inside with the dishes and stacked the dishwasher. Her head was hurting and she just wanted to sleep.
“Are you ok Lennie?” came a voice from behind.
Lennie closes eyes and turned around to see Kate “Ummm let see….. Nooooooooooo”
“It is rather awkward… please don’t say anything to Sarah and Laura. It would kill them both.”
“Oh you think I’d want to put my brother through it?”
“Through what?” came Josh’s voice.
Lennie wanted to curse “nothing”
“Lennie come on you can tell me anything, we have no secrets”
Kate shifted uncomfortably not sure what to say.
Lennie put a hand on Josh’s shoulder knowing what would instantly make him turn tail and run “Josh it’s lesbian talk ok?”
Josh nodded “ohhh right, gotcha…. Yeah I’m just gonna leave now” and disappears quickly.
“Lennie….”
“Kate… its forgotten”
Lennie left her mum’s house and went home collapsing on to her bed
Back to Psychiatrist (in present)
“Don’t you think you should have been honest with your brother?” asked Phillipa.
“No… absolutely not… jeez I might be a female version of a prick, but I couldn’t”
“But you didn’t know… surely he would have understood.”
“Well I guess maybe back then…. But further on, he didn’t” groans and shakes her head.
“Oh… so there is more, please continue Lennie”
