Title: Sexuality Terms

Kat’s Gay/Lesbian/Canadian terminology list.

This is a list of Terms that tend to show up in my stories and my life. Seeing as so many people are confused by all of these terms I thought I would list some of them here for those interested, as well as list some words that I commonly use that might confuse some. I hope this list will be useful to some. This is related to my writing and worlds so if you disagree with some of these terms then don’t come yelling at me, this comes from my experience in the gay community and just a reference for my works for the most part. I’ve also added in some common Canadian/British words that I tend to use that some seem confused by.

Sexual related terms
Sexuality - Is your sexual preference and the types of things that attract someone. Not to be confused with gender, which is the gender of which a person is inside.

Lesbian - A homosexual woman.
Dyke - a more masculine lesbian
Bisexual - someone who is attracted to both sexes.
Gay - Homosexual male

Butch/Femme - a relationship between a masculine and a feminine lesbian couple. This structure used to be strictly enforced back in the early 70s, but not anymore. Now butch-on butch and femme-on-femme are no longer discriminated against. However some groups of extreme feminist lesbians are still against the dynamic and more so butch women. There is still some anti-butch/femme sentiment in the community.
Lipstick Les - A lesbian who behaves in a feminine manner
Diesel Dyke - a very truck-driver-like butch
